Mandy Moore, known for portraying the high school bully Lana in the 2001 film The Princess Diaries, has expressed enthusiasm about reprising her role in the upcoming third installment. The 41-year-old actress shared her interest in returning to the franchise during an interview with Kylie Kelce on the Not Gonna Lie podcast in July.
Hopeful for a Changed Character with a Redemption Storyline
Although Moore mentioned she had heard months ago there might be a cameo opportunity for Lana, nothing has been confirmed yet.
“I haven’t heard anything since, so who knows,”
she said. “But I would be game.” She hopes that the new story will present her character as someone who has evolved since her days of bullying Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway.
“I’d love some sort of redemptive storyline. Like maybe my character is working with an animal rescue or something,”
Moore explained.
“Hopefully, she’s made something good out of her life. Like she’s come around and she’s actually a good person and she peaked in high school…That’s what I’m hoping for if I return.”
Returning Cast Members and What Fans Can Expect
Fans are also curious about which other cast members from The Princess Diaries might return for the third movie. Mandy Moore’s willingness to revisit Lana suggests a deeper exploration of characters who were once defined by their high school roles, opening the door for growth and redemption in the story.
