Dave Franco is eager to extend the Now You See Me franchise with multiple future movies. The actor, known for playing street magician Jack Wilder, will return in the upcoming threequel, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, scheduled for release on November 14, 2025. With a fourth film already in development, Franco shared his hopes that the series will continue beyond the next installment.
Franco described the returning gang of magicians and hinted at even more magic in the new film during an interview with Screen Rant.
Returning Cast and Introduction of New Characters
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t features the original Four Horsemen alongside a fresh group of magicians. Besides Franco’s Jack Wilder, Jesse Eisenberg reprises his role as J. Daniel Atlas, Woody Harrelson returns as Merritt McKinney, and Isla Fisher plays Henley Reeves. Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman also come back as Dylan Rhodes and Thaddeus Bradley, respectively.
New cast members include Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa, portraying the next generation of illusionists who join the storyline. This mix of familiar and new faces aims to revitalize the franchise and attract audiences with both nostalgia and fresh talent.
Behind the Scenes and Cast Camaraderie
Franco highlighted the strong bond among the cast, which has developed over nearly 15 years since the original film’s release in 2013. He emphasized the natural chemistry that they share, believing it positively impacts their on-screen performances.

I’m learning new ways to throw cards. I have the greatest time with that cast. I think our natural love for each other bleeds onto the screen, and I hope to make many more with them.
—Dave Franco, Actor
I just adore these people, and I think the natural camaraderie that we have kind of bleeds through onto the screen, and people can feel how much fun we’re having.

A Glimpse into the Film’s Plot and Villain
The new movie, directed by Ruben Fleischer, depicts the Four Horsemen having separated at the story’s start. In the released trailer, Eisenberg’s character informs a younger group of illusionists that the original team is “dead,” revealing that the magicians gave up their previous lives because “things got too real.”
The narrative centers on a bold diamond heist that unites both the original crew and the newcomers to confront a dangerous criminal syndicate. Franco previously commented on the film’s antagonist, played by Rosamund Pike, praising her presence as a standout element.
We got some new fun characters – we got an incredible villain with Rosamund Pike, who’s just an absolute pro. It’s everything you want.

Future of the Franchise and Studio Support
At CinemaCon in April 2025, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson announced the film’s title and confirmed the return of director Ruben Fleischer for a fourth Now You See Me movie. Fogelson expressed enthusiasm following the director’s cut of the third film, signaling strong confidence in the franchise’s ongoing potential.
We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done with the third film and thrilled he’ll be making even more magic with us.
—Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair
This backing from Lionsgate suggests the franchise will continue to develop new stories that blend illusion, heist elements, and character-driven drama, satisfying longtime fans while attracting new followers.
