Harrison Ford’s Unexpected Take on Joining the MCU: What He Revealed About His Role and Upcoming Transformation!

Harrison Ford has made a surprising admission about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing that he had the utmost faith in producers. The Hollywood legend, best known for his roles in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, will make his debut in the superhero saga as he appears as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: Brave New World, the fourth entry in the series. Ahead of the film’s theatrical release next week on February 14, Ford revealed to The Wall Street Journal that he signed up for the project without reading the script, recalling, “Again, no script. Why not? I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time.”

Naturally, Ford was in for several shocks in the script, with the star confirming that he was surprised by Ross’s transformation into Red Hulk. He shared, “It’s like life. You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing.” Captain America: Brave New World, the 35th entry in the MCU, focuses on Sam Wilson/Captain America (Anthony Mackie) as he becomes embroiled in an international incident after Ross is elected as President of the United States.

Mackie recently responded to comments he made at a Disney event in Rome, in which he mentioned that he ‘doesn’t think’ America should be one of the things that his character represented, adding that important values include “honor, dignity, and integrity.” Following some backlash from fans on social media, Mackie clarified his comments by saying, “Let me be clear about this, I’m a proud American and taking on the shield of a hero like CAP is the honor of a lifetime. I have the utmost respect for those who serve and have served our country. CAP has universal characteristics that people all over the world can relate to,” continued the star, whose character was previously known as The Falcon.

Captain America: Brave New World opens in cinemas on February 14, 2025. The first three Captain America movies and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are streaming on Disney+. As Ford steps into the Marvel fold, his involvement not only adds star power to the franchise but also reveals the evolving nature of superhero narratives, broadening the scope of iconic characters like Thaddeus Ross. The excitement around Ford’s debut signifies a momentous shift in expectations from both the audience and the franchise itself.

With such high-profile additions to the MCU, fans can anticipate a fresh perspective and innovative storytelling in the upcoming installment. Ford’s commitment without a script speaks volumes about the trust he has in Marvel’s vision, likely promising engaging feats and memorable moments for viewers. This collaboration is sure to have effects on both the cinematic landscape and the legacies of classic characters.
