I am so excited to share our film on a big screen and to share the stage with some of the people who knew him best as they share their memories of the man. We’re also honored this tour will help support St. Jude’s.

Background and Key Moments

Ryan Reynolds, who also serves as a producer, premiered the documentary at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival last week with director Colin Hanks and John Candy’s children Jennifer and Christopher.

About the Film and Philanthropy

The project centers on the documentary John Candy: I Like Me, with Reynolds describing the film as a way to celebrate a beloved comedian while moving it onto the big screen for broader audience connection. The on-tour conversations aim to honor Candy’s memory through candid recollections from family and friends, and the charitable component underscores Reynolds’ involvement with St. Jude’s.

Why This Matters and What Might Come Next

The tour blends film, live discussion, and philanthropy, potentially broadening audiences for John Candy’s work while reinforcing Reynolds’ role as a producer who champions charitable causes. By linking every screening to St. Jude’s, the initiative leverages fan enthusiasm for classic cinema to support a meaningful cause. As the tour unfolds, fans will see how Candy’s legacy resonates across generations, with new conversations that connect the past to contemporary audiences through cinema and storytelling.
