Julia Roberts celebrates twins’ birthday with a heartfelt gesture as her eldest children, Hazel and Phinnaeus, turn 21 on November 28. Known for valuing her family’s privacy alongside husband Danny Moder, Roberts shared a rare throwback photo to commemorate the special occasion.

The Instagram post featured both twins as babies, sitting in highchairs on what appeared to be their first birthday, with presents seen in the background. This marked a notable exception to Roberts and Moder’s usual efforts to keep their family life away from the public eye. The couple, married since 2002, have three children: Hazel, Phinnaeus, and their youngest, Henry, who is 18.

Moments and Memories Shared by Julia Roberts

Roberts accompanied her post with warm words.

“These game changers, life alterers, [heart] expanders once were 1 and now are 21!”

Roberts wrote on Instagram on November 28, displaying her deep affection for Hazel and Phinnaeus. She continued,

“That was fast. Happy Birthday my dears.”

Reflecting on her parenting journey, Roberts has often discussed the joy she finds in spending time with her children. During an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s show, she described her experience as an empty nester.

“It’s all fun, honestly. It is all so delicious.”

She elaborated further:

“I love hanging out with them and spending time with them,”

Roberts said.

“Fortunately, we have had lots of visits along the way [to] this empty nest.”

She expressed pride in her children, noting,

“I know everyone thinks their kids are great. Well, my kids are great.”

Maintaining Strong Bonds as the Family Grows

Despite her children reaching adulthood, Roberts maintains an active and caring presence in their lives. On Today in 2023, she shared,

“I parent them the same way out of the house that I parented them in the house, which is, you know, ‘Are you getting enough sleep?’ And, ‘You sound like you’re sick.’ And, ‘Are you drinking tea?’ And ‘Text me when you get home [so] I can see that you’re home safe and sound.’”

Roberts added,

“I have an immense amount of appreciation for both of my older kids because they still allow me to be the same mom to them, And it’s not eye-rolling and there’s a huge amount of understanding.”

Looking Forward to New Opportunities

Now that her children have all left home, Roberts is considering returning to the stage. She told People,

“I think I’d like to do another play. Now that my kids are out of the house, I think that I could devote that kind of laser focus again to something like that, because [that’s] such a different kind of commitment to make than a film.”

She also noted,

“So, I think that would be something that I would look forward to,”

pointing to exciting possibilities ahead as she embarks on this new chapter of her life.

By sharing this rare glimpse into her family celebrations, Julia Roberts continues to capture public interest, while showing the enduring bonds of motherhood and the changes that come with family milestones.
