Emma Stone Breaks Oscar Record with 2026 Nominations

The 2026 Oscar nominations have witnessed several historic milestones, including Emma Stone setting a new record with her nominations. Stone, along with Timothée Chalamet, achieved unprecedented recognition that marks a notable moment in Academy Awards history.

Emma Stone Sets New Record for Oscar Nominations

Emma Stone has become the youngest woman to receive seven Oscar nominations, earning nods for Best Actress and Best Picture for her role in Bugonia. At 37 years old, she surpassed the previous record held by Meryl Streep, who reached this milestone at 38. This year’s nominations add to Stone’s already impressive career, where she has won Best Actress twice for La La Land and Poor Things. Should she secure a win for Bugonia, Stone would tie Frances McDormand with three Best Actress Oscars, second only to Katharine Hepburn, who has four.

Timothée Chalamet Achieves Multiple Historic Oscar Nominations

Timothée Chalamet also made history with his nominations for Marty Supreme. His recognition for both Best Actor and Best Picture marks him as the youngest actor since Marlon Brando in 1954 to receive three acting nominations. At 30 years old, Chalamet is the youngest to be nominated as both producer and actor in the same ceremony. If he wins Best Actor, Chalamet would become the second-youngest recipient in this category, trailing only Adrien Brody, who won at age 29.

Records Shattered Beyond Individual Achievements

The film Sinners became the most-nominated movie ever, receiving 16 nominations and surpassing the previous record of 14, shared by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land. Among these nominations, Ruth Carter was recognized for Best Costume Design, earning her fifth Oscar nod. This achievement makes Carter the most-nominated Black woman across all categories in Academy Awards history.

Wagner Moura also earned a milestone with his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor in The Secret Agent. At 49, Moura becomes the first Brazilian actor nominated in this category, marking a significant moment for representation at the Oscars.

Upcoming 2026 Oscars Ceremony

The 2026 Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on March 15, 2026. This year’s nominations highlight not only individual excellence by talents like Emma Stone and Timothée Chalamet but also broader progress and diversity within the film industry, setting hopeful expectations for the upcoming ceremony.
