Natalie Portman recently offered a rare glimpse into her son Aleph’s life by revealing that the 14-year-old has started his own fashion line named DeVante. The revelation came during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where Portman reflected on her viral summer moment joining the musical act Role Model on stage, proudly wearing one of Aleph’s designs.
At 44 years old, the “Thor” star described how her son independently created the clothing line. Portman expressed her pride, noting she wore one of his shirts during the performance as a way to show support for his venture.
“My son, my 14-year-old, started a clothing line called DeVante. I’m very proud of him,”
she said.
“He really just did it all on his own. And so I wore one of his shirts on stage. So I just kind of felt like a banner for him. It was very exciting.”
Co-Parenting and Family Life After Divorce
Natalie Portman and her ex-husband Benjamin Millepied share two children: Aleph and their younger daughter Amalia, who is eight years old. The couple finalized their divorce in February 2024 after separating in July 2023. Despite this, they continue to prioritize co-parenting and maintaining stability for their children.
A source close to the family commented on their relationship, emphasizing their dedication to their children’s well-being post-divorce.
“[Natalie’s] biggest priority has been ensuring a smooth transition for her children,”
the source told PEOPLE.
“She and Ben really love their kids and are equally focused on being the best co-parents they can be. Nothing is more important.”
Keeping Family Life Mostly Private
Portman generally prefers to keep details about her children out of the public eye, though she occasionally shares small insights during interviews. In a conversation with actress Jenna Ortega for Interview Magazine, the “Black Swan” star described how her children fuel her enthusiasm by growing and developing their own identities.

“My kids are always a source of excitement, because you just see them develop into the individuals they are,”
Portman told Ortega.
“Also, I’ve been spending a lot of time with my friends, with their kids and my kids; that’s pretty fun.”
She also explained her approach to maintaining boundaries around her family’s privacy despite her public career.
“I’m not a particularly private person in real life—I’ll tell you anything—but in public, it was so clear early on that if you tell people how private you are, your privacy gets respected a lot more,”
she said.
“I set up a little bit of a barrier to be like, ‘I’m not going to do photo shoots with my kids.’”
Portman’s Career Moments Inspired by Family
In past interviews, Natalie Portman has shared that her children are aware of her career and even encouraged her participation in major projects like playing Mighty Thor in “Thor: Love and Thunder.” She described trying to impress her kids through her work, which offered them a unique look behind the scenes.
“I feel like it’s the phase of my career where I’m really trying to just impress my kids,”
Portman told Variety in June 2022.
“My 5-year-old and my 10-year-old [now 11] were so enthralled by this process, getting to visit the set and see me dressed up in a cape. It made it really cool,”
she added.
“You know, it’s very rare that my kids are like, ‘Please go to work!’ Usually, it’s quite the opposite.”
The Growing Impact of Aleph’s Fashion Endeavor
Aleph’s initiative to launch his own fashion brand at such a young age demonstrates creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, supported by a proud mother who is eager to promote his talents publicly. As Aleph continues to develop his brand, it will be interesting to see how his line evolves and expands.
For Natalie Portman, balancing her evolving career, co-parenting challenges, and support for her children’s individual passions remains a central focus. Her endorsement of Aleph’s fashion line highlights a family dynamic centered on encouragement, artistic expression, and maintaining privacy in the spotlight.
