Hollywood actor Brad Pitt has moved to a suburb of Dublin as he begins filming his latest project. The star will spend the next two weeks in Ireland working on the upcoming A24 film, The Riders, according to the Irish Independent.
Details of the Film and Its Production Locations
The 62-year-old actor is reportedly staying in Dalkey, a Dublin neighbourhood previously home to Matt Damon during filming in 2020. Pitt is collaborating with director Edward Berger on this screen adaptation of Tim Winton’s 1994 novel, which partly takes place in Ireland. Filming takes place in various locations, including around Lough Tay—also nicknamed the Guinness lake—in County Wicklow, with additional shoots planned in Dublin, Cork, and Kerry.
The production extends beyond Ireland, with scenes also being shot in several European locations such as the Greek island of Hydra.
Cast and Storyline Overview
Alongside Brad Pitt, the cast includes Julianne Nicholson, known for Boardwalk Empire, and newcomer Coco Greenstone. The plot follows Fred Scully (Pitt), who travels through Europe for two years before settling in Ireland with his wife Jennifer and their daughter Billie. The family purchases an old farmhouse near a castle, where Fred spends weeks renovating it alone as Jennifer returns to Australia to manage their assets.
The story takes a dramatic turn when Fred arrives at Shannon Airport to collect Jennifer and Billie, but only Billie appears.
“There is no note, no explanation, not so much as a word from Jennifer, and the shock has left Billie speechless. In that instant, Scully’s life falls to pieces.”
