Jeff Goldblum Joins Jurassic Park Reunion in Super Bowl Ad

The original trio of Jurassic Park stars—Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum—have come together once again for a Super Bowl advertisement. The actors reprise their iconic roles as Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm from Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic, in a campaign promoting Comcast’s Xfinity service during the Big Game.

This commercial highlights the highly anticipated Jeff Goldblum Jurassic Park reunion, blending nostalgia with modern technology to engage audiences ahead of the event on Sunday.

A Creative Collaboration with Taika Waititi and Top Industry Talent

The extended advertisement, exclusively previewed by Entertainment Weekly, is directed by Oscar winner Taika Waititi, known for films like Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit. Waititi, who previously worked with Sam Neill on the 2016 film Hunt for the Wilderpeople, brings a fresh vision to this celebrated franchise.

The ad reimagines the Jurassic Park story through the lens of Xfinity’s fast, secure Wi-Fi service: instead of Dennis Nedry’s sabotage that frees dinosaurs from their cages, reliable Wi-Fi prevents disaster. This twist allows the characters to enjoy the park free from chaos.

Nostalgic Moments and Iconic Lines Brought Back to Life

Fans will recognize the recreation of the famous rain-soaked scene where Neill and Goldblum’s characters sit parked outside the T. rex enclosure. Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler puts a new spin on her original line, saying,

I think we’re back in business, guys,

which maintains the spirit of the film while embracing this updated storyline.

Jeff Goldblum’s character Ian Malcolm also delivers a memorable nod to his classic catchphrase with a relaxed poolside moment reflecting on the Wi-Fi, keeping the essence of “life finds a way” alive in this modern advertisement.

Authentic Production to Capture Jurassic Park’s Original Spirit

Comcast teamed up with Universal Entertainment and Amblin Entertainment to ensure the ad’s production reflected the original’s high standards. The campaign includes John Williams’s iconic score; cutting-edge visual effects from Industrial Light & Magic; and authentic costumes and sets recreated using original production materials, enhancing the nostalgic experience while showcasing the power of modern technology.

The last time fans saw Neill, Dern, and Goldblum together in these roles was in the 2022 film Jurassic World Dominion, which starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Additionally, the recent series Jurassic World Rebirth referenced Neill’s character, Dr. Alan Grant, through Jonathan Bailey’s portrayal of Dr. Henry Loomis, a character who studied under Grant, affirming the lasting influence of the original story.

Statements from Industry Leaders on the Ad’s Impact

Jon Gieselman, Chief Growth Officer of Connectivity and Platforms at Comcast, expressed enthusiasm about the campaign’s cultural reach, saying,

This Sunday, while millions of people watch the Big Game on NBC and Peacock, we’ll be reimagining one of the most iconic moments in movie history,

and added,

By asking what Jurassic Park could have been with Xfinity’s fast, secure wifi, we’re creating a fun, cultural crossover only Comcast NBCUniversal could deliver, combining blockbuster storytelling with real-world technology that protects, connects, and powers millions of customers every day.

David O’Connor, Chief Brand Officer at Universal Entertainment, highlighted the franchise’s enduring appeal, stating the Jurassic Park series

captured the imagination of audiences around the world

for over 30 years. He remarked,

By combining the timeless characters and iconic moments of the original film with modern technology, we’re celebrating the legacy of Jurassic Park while introducing it to a new generation,

emphasizing the campaign’s role in connecting past fans with newcomers alike.

Experiential Events and Citywide Promotions Ahead of the Big Game

In addition to the Super Bowl commercial, Xfinity is activating several Jurassic Park-themed experiences throughout San Francisco for the week. These include specially decorated Lyft vehicles, dinosaur projections illuminating the Hobart Building, a large-scale motion-sensing T. rex billboard at 901 Market Street, and appearances by Universal Orlando Resort’s baby raptor and a Jurassic Park ranger roaming the city.

These activations aim to build excitement and deepen engagement with the franchise and the new advertisement during one of the most-watched television events of the year.
