The third season of the Apple TV series Shrinking has just begun airing, and a fourth season is already confirmed, signaling ongoing success for the show. Amid this momentum, Harrison Ford expressed that if his acting career were to conclude with Shrinking, he would regard it as a deeply satisfying finale. The acclaimed actor shared his thoughts during a panel event held on Tuesday at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, part of Apple TV’s inaugural press day.
Insights from the Cast at Apple TV’s Press Event
During the panel, moderator Ashley Nicole Black invited the cast to reflect on the meaningful questions they confronted after joining a series centered around a grieving therapist who breaks conventional boundaries by openly sharing his honest thoughts with clients. Ford, along with co-stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley, offered candid remarks about their experience working on the show.
Harrison Ford Reflects on the Significance of His Role
Ford opened the conversation by emphasizing the unique nature of the work involved in this show. He said,
“Where do you go from here? The kind of work that we’re able to do is remarkable given the tools we have to work with, and the notion that lies behind this series. And if it was all over here, that would be sufficient,”
sharing a sentiment of contentment with his involvement at this stage of his illustrious career. He continued,
“This has been a different kind of job for me, and I’ve been doing this for a long time. This is very special and it really nurtures me and makes me feel like what we’re doing has value and importance. I look for that in my life and I’m happy to have found it here.”
His heartfelt words were met with enthusiastic applause from around 300 attendees, including members of the press, influencers, and content creators. Black acknowledged the emotional moment, remarking,

“There’s never been a better place to end a panel.”
The Collaborative Spirit Among the Cast and Crew
The panel radiated warmth and mutual respect among the cast. Christa Miller received praise for her music supervision and her ability to soothe babies on set, while she praised Ted McGinley as being “so lovely and warm.” Black was recognized for her dual role as a talented writer and on-set contributor. Luke Tennie highlighted Jason Segel’s leadership, describing him as
“there is no better quarterback, there’s no better team captain.”
McGinley admired Ford’s example, stating,
“every single person on set matters including the person who’s giving you a cup of water, the person who meets you first thing in the morning at 5 a.m. He’s kind to everyone from the bottom of the top.”
Portraying Parkinson’s Disease with Respect and Authenticity
A notable aspect of Shrinking is its inclusion of Michael J. Fox, whose character shares Ford’s on-screen experience with Parkinson’s disease. Given Fox’s own longstanding battle with the condition since 1991, Ford expressed a strong sense of responsibility in portraying his character authentically. He explained,
“It was a bit daunting when I thought about it, because I am representing a character that has Parkinson’s, and Michael, of course, has the real thing.”
Ford reflected on the experience of working with Fox, saying,
“I’ve always felt a real sense of responsibility for getting that part of my story right. But Michael is an extraordinary, generous and lovely fellow, who I did not know at all and had a chance to, just working on this show. It was an extraordinary experience to work with him. He is such a powerful presence. Such grace and courage and indomitability, and some of that, I hope, will help me color my portrayal of a character with Parkinson’s.”
He added a lighter note, commenting,
“That’s the serious part of it. But the fun part of it was there as well. It was an extraordinary experience, I think for all of us, to be with Michael and see how he does what he does. He’s so funny as well.”
‘Shrinking’ Continues to Attract Attention on Apple TV
With multiple seasons already planned and a committed cast dedicated to bringing this thoughtful series to life, Shrinking remains a flagship program for Apple TV. Ford’s heartfelt reflections underscore the show’s impact not only on audiences but also on those involved in its creation, marking a meaningful chapter in his extensive career.
