Jake Gyllenhaal Stars in Netflix’s Thriller Kill Switch

Jake Gyllenhaal is set to headline the new Netflix thriller Kill Switch, with streaming rights recently acquired by Netflix. The film’s screenplay, penned by Harrison Query, remains under wraps but is described as a blend of the intense styles seen in Michael Mann’s Collateral and Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario.

Production Team and Collaborations Behind Kill Switch

Kill Switch will be produced by Matt Reeves through his 6th and Idaho banner, with Lynn Harris also producing alongside Gyllenhaal and Josh McLaughlin’s Nine Stories and Scott Glassgold’s 12:01 Films. Harrison Query, the scriptwriter, is slated to serve as an executive producer as well. This partnership marks a significant collaboration between acclaimed filmmakers and producers in the thriller genre.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Expanding Role in Streaming and Film

This project continues Gyllenhaal’s growing involvement in streaming content, following his leading role in Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent, a highly watched drama series that has been renewed for a second season with Gyllenhaal returning as both actor and executive producer. Alongside Kill Switch, Gyllenhaal is also working on other films, including Road House 2 directed by Ilya Naishuller, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, and M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural thriller, Remain.

Connections to Other Projects by Harrison Query and Gyllenhaal

Harrison Query’s work continues to gain attention beyond Kill Switch. Amazon MGM Studios recently secured the rights for a film adaptation of Query’s short story Code Black, featuring Gyllenhaal with the same production companies involved. Additionally, Netflix acquired Query’s speculative script The Operator last December, with Mark Wahlberg attached both as lead actor and producer.

With Kill Switch joining an impressive slate of projects by Gyllenhaal and his collaborators, audiences can expect a suspenseful and tightly crafted thriller that builds on a strong foundation in contemporary crime cinema.
