Chris Pratt Breaks Hollywood Mold to Praise Military Vets

Chris Pratt has publicly recognized the dedication and hard work of military veterans, especially those involved in the entertainment industry. Speaking about his experience working with former Navy SEALs on his Amazon Prime series, Pratt highlighted how these veterans bring unmatched discipline and commitment to Hollywood productions.

How Chris Pratt Commends Veterans on His Show

Pratt, 46, praised the former Navy SEAL cast and crew on The Terminal List for their exceptional work ethic. He described the team surrounding him, both in front of and behind the camera, as composed largely of veterans who bring focus and efficiency to the set. According to Pratt, the transition from military service to film and television provides a meaningful outlet for these individuals.

“Our room is populated with a bunch of veterans,”

Pratt shared on the podcast Literally! With Rob Lowe.

“We’ve got people in front of the camera, behind the camera who are all veterans. They work, man. And that, the pipeline of like going from military to the film and television industry is — it’s such a great outlet for these guys.”

Pratt emphasized the reliability and drive veterans maintain, stating,

“Cause they are just like, they just get [expletive] done. You know? If you ask, ‘Hey handle this.’ They’re like, ‘Got it.’ You don’t have to follow up the next day. And they’re not like, ‘Oh, actually, it’s kind of like, I think stuff’s going on. Like, first of all, you have to understand what happened.’ It’s like, ‘No, they just get [expletive] done.’ It’s amazing.”

In the show, Pratt plays James Reece, a U.S. Navy SEAL lieutenant commander, while also serving as an executive producer.

The Unique Skills Veterans Bring to Entertainment

Pratt further discussed witnessing how the specialized training of former military personnel enhances film production beyond the typical scope of their service. He noted that the skills developed in combat roles are usually narrow, but seeing veterans apply them to creative projects was powerful.

“What they’re capable of doing, it’s very specific and kind of narrow in terms of application,”

Pratt explained.

“Unless you’re gonna go do private security for somebody where you need to be on your toes and be willing and capable of delivering lethal force to protect something.”

He added,

“To see them using their training — but in service of art — it’s been amazing to see this sort … this catharsis, because these are guys who have millions of dollars worth of training pumped into each one of them. And then to put that training into making actors know how to handle weapons systems [and] move properly.”

Pratt also used Veterans Day to honor those who served, tweeting,

Pratt’s Ongoing Advocacy for Veteran Presence in Film

This is not the first time Pratt has acknowledged the valuable role veterans play on and off the screen. Previously, he highlighted the team behind The Terminal List includes former Navy SEALs and Army Rangers who have transitioned into film roles after their military careers.

“We’ve got a really fantastic team of executive producers that are former Navy Seals, former Army Rangers and a bunch of men and women who have retired and transitioned over into the film and television industry,”

Pratt stated last summer.

“Which is, by the way, a fantastic avenue for these folks. Super service driven. Work really hard. It’s a really nice fit. It’s been great for everybody.”

Pratt’s path to Hollywood fame started with his role in the comedy series Parks and Recreation, where he starred alongside Amy Poehler. He later gained movie stardom in blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, along with appearances in films such as Passengers, Moneyball, Zero Dark Thirty, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Continuing his association with military-themed productions, Pratt stars in Way of the Warrior Kid, a film that follows a decorated Navy SEAL training his nephew to confront bullies. The project, starring Pratt and Jude Hill, is set to release on Apple TV in November 2026.
