Eddie Murphy and Eva Longoria are set to reunite for the upcoming comedy film Attachment Parenting, marking another collaboration under Amazon MGM. This project will bring together the two actors just a year after their work together on the 2025 heist action comedy The Pickup.
Details of the New Comedy Project
<pAttachment Parenting will be based on a short story by Julianna Baggott and will focus on a psychologist couple whose parenting approach is challenged when they are taken hostage at a hotel. During the ordeal, they must counsel the dysfunctional family of a crime boss. Both Murphy, aged 64, and Longoria, aged 50, will star in the film and serve as producers alongside John Davis of Davis Entertainment, who also worked on The Pickup.
Current Status of the Film’s Development
At this early stage in production, Attachment Parenting does not yet have a confirmed writer or director. This will be Murphy’s third project with Amazon, following Candy Cane Lane in 2023 and the most recent collaboration with Longoria in The Pickup. The film’s premise combines dark comedy with tense family dynamics, reflecting a unique storytelling angle.
Reflection on The Pickup Set Accident
The cast and crew’s previous experience filming The Pickup was marred by a serious accident in April 2024. During a rehearsed second-unit action sequence, two stunt vehicles collided, causing significant injuries to several crew members. The incident prompted a pause in filming and raised concerns about set safety. An Amazon MGM Studios representative said,
“The well-being of the entire crew and cast is our first priority, and we will continue to insist on the highest industry standards of safety while filming. All safety precautions were reviewed prior to and monitored during the shoot.”
Among those injured, crew member Marvin Haven sustained broken ribs, neck and back fractures, a shattered scapula, a punctured lung, and a skull fracture. Additionally, special effects specialist Wayne Rowe was seriously hurt, suffering multiple fractures to his L1 vertebra, a broken wrist, and a severe head laceration.
Significance and Expectations Moving Forward
The reunion of Eddie Murphy and Eva Longoria on Attachment Parenting demonstrates their continued partnership with Amazon MGM despite the difficulties experienced during their last project together. As the film remains in early development, industry watchers will be closely monitoring progress on securing a creative team and setting a production timeline, especially in light of prior safety issues. This project highlights Amazon’s ongoing investment in blending established talent with fresh comedic storytelling under challenging circumstances.
