Hailee Steinfeld Has No Plans to Return to Music Yet

Hailee Steinfeld, known for her acting roles in films like Bumblebee and The Edge of Seventeen, has announced that she currently has no plans to return to music. While Steinfeld has built a name as a pop singer alongside her acting career, she shared her hesitation about creating new music at this time amid changes in the industry.

Steinfeld’s Musical Journey and Recent Work

After starring in the musical comedy Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015, Hailee Steinfeld released her debut EP Haiz, which reached number 57 on the U.S. Billboard 200. She followed this with a second EP, Half Written Story, in 2020 and gained attention with singles like “Love Myself,” “At My Best,” and “Starving.” Her latest solo single, “SunKissing,” was released in 2023, and she also contributed to the soundtrack for her 2025 film Sinners.

Hailee Opens Up About Current Feelings Toward Music

During a recent Q&A session for her Beau Society newsletter, Steinfeld was asked about her future in music.

“While I have no plans to make music right at this exact moment, do I think about it? All the time,”

she admitted.

“Music has always been a huge part of my life, and if it makes sense to get back in a studio, it’s an easy yes.”

Despite this openness, she revealed a sense of creative dissatisfaction.

“But the music industry has changed quite a bit over the last few years,”

she explained.

“I don’t feel as creatively fulfilled by music as much as I used to. I love the way Charli XCX writes about this.”

Industry Challenges Reflected in Charli XCX’s Work

Steinfeld referenced Charli XCX’s 2024 album Brat, which explores the difficulties and pressures within the music industry. The British hitmaker’s work highlights the unpredictability of pop stardom and the struggles artists face with industry expectations, themes that seem to resonate with Steinfeld’s current mindset about music.

Potential Future Directions for Hailee’s Music

Although Hailee Steinfeld currently does not have plans to return to music, her ongoing connection to the art form suggests that a comeback is possible if the timing and creative environment feel right. Her remarks indicate that while the music scene no longer offers the same fulfillment, it remains an important part of her life and career considerations.
