George Clooney’s Riverside Home Flooded Alongside Celebrities

Recent flooding has impacted the riverside properties of several celebrities, including George Clooney, in the county. Rising river levels have triggered government flood alerts, urging local communities to stay cautious during this period of severe weather.

The Grade II-listed residence of George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney, located in Sonning, has been inundated by floodwaters. This estate, reportedly valued at £12 million, includes extensive gardens, a tennis court, and various outbuildings, much of which is currently underwater.

Other Celebrity Homes Also Experiencing Flood Threats

Alongside Clooney’s property, Russell Brand’s Remenham home, valued at £3.3 million, faces similar flooding issues, with water covering much of the one-acre estate. Additionally, Debbie McGee’s £3 million home in Wargrave is surrounded by floodwater. McGee, who previously lived there with her late husband Paul Daniels, has faced floods before and installed a pumping system to protect the property. However, this time the rising water has surpassed these defenses.

Widespread Flood Warnings in West Berkshire

The Environment Agency has issued two flood warnings for West Berkshire, indicating that flooding is expected in Bourne Valley at The Collingbournes, as well as at the River Thames near Purley Village. In addition, thirteen flood alerts are active, signaling possible flooding across various river catchments and tributaries, such as Ginge Brook, River Kennet, River Lambourn, River Ock, and River Pang. Areas affected include Newbury, Upton, Vernham Dean, Reading, and others.

Areas at Risk Across the County’s River Network

These alerts cover groundwater flooding in the Lambourn Valley, Salisbury Plain, and Bourne Valley regions. Rivers prone to flooding extend from Berwick Bassett and Thatcham through to Pangbourne and Sonning, highlighting the extensive reach of rising waters. Communities in these locations are advised to remain vigilant and prepared for further developments.

Significance of the Flooding and What to Expect Next

This surge in flooding poses challenges to both residents and emergency services, emphasizing the importance of flood management and preparedness. The impact on high-profile properties such as those owned by George Clooney and other celebrities draws attention to the broader risks facing riverside communities. Authorities continue monitoring river levels to respond swiftly, while affected residents assess damage and reinforce defenses where possible.
