George Clooney’s £10M Berkshire Estate Flooded After Thames Surge

George Clooney’s riverside estate in Berkshire experienced flooding as the Thames overflowed following weeks of heavy rain. Located in Sonning along a vulnerable stretch of the river, the property owned by Clooney and his wife Amal was notably affected by the rising water levels.

Floodwaters Submerge Garden and Tennis Court at Clooney’s Berkshire Home

The surge in the Thames caused significant flooding around Clooney’s property, with parts of the garden and tennis court submerged underwater. The Grade II-listed residence, valued between £10 million and £12 million, now shows large areas covered by floodwater, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Authorities Warn Residents as Flood Alerts Cover Berkshire and Oxfordshire

Officials have issued flood warnings for areas across Berkshire and south Oxfordshire, urging residents to stay alert due to sustained high river levels. Locals have been advised to prepare for continued flooding, as further rain is expected to keep water levels elevated in the coming days.

Specifically, regions including Henley, Remenham, and Medmenham are anticipated to face ongoing flooding on low-lying land and roads, with the Henley area at particular risk.

Nearby Homes of Russell Brand and Debbie McGee Also Impacted by Flooding

Flooding has extended to the grounds surrounding Russell Brand’s riverside property in Berkshire, a one-acre estate he acquired in 2016 for £3.3 million. Although Brand has relocated to Florida with his wife Laura Gallacher, his Berkshire home remains vulnerable to the rising Thames.

Debbie McGee’s nearby Wargrave residence has suffered more extensive flood damage, with water encroaching close to the house. After enduring previous flooding earlier in 2024, she had installed pumping systems with her late husband Paul Daniels to combat such events, but the equipment was overwhelmed by the recent surge.

Debbie’s had a terrible time. When her home was flooded in January, the water went very quickly, and just as she finished all the work to sort things out and get herself straight, it flooded again.

Overview of Clooney’s Sonning Estate and Its Place Among His Properties

George Clooney purchased the Berkshire estate in 2014, completing significant renovations before moving in two years later. His Sonning home features nine bedrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a large terrace, a private boathouse, and a 12-seat cinema, illustrating its extensive and luxurious design.

In addition to the Sonning residence, Clooney and Amal also own properties in Lake Como, Italy; a vineyard estate in Brignoles, France; and a house in Los Angeles, reflecting their global property holdings.

With ongoing rainfall across the United Kingdom, authorities continue to monitor river levels closely. The flooding at Clooney’s Berkshire estate serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of riverside neighborhoods facing natural surges in the Thames.
