The actress responded to criticism by outlining her responsibilities as a single mom, describing a demanding daily routine that involves childcare, household tasks, and personal development activities. She highlighted how she balances laundry, meal preparation, bath time, songwriting, and even guitar practice, along with maintaining social relationships, exercise, and work commitments.
Responding to Criticism About Her Financial Situation
After sharing a video of her busy daily life, Rumer posted a hateful comment claiming her family would prevent her from ever facing serious debt, a luxury not afforded to many single mothers. In reply, she expressed awareness of her privileges but insisted that her message was not about comparing hardships.
“I want to respond to this with care, because I think there’s a misunderstanding about what I was actually saying,”
Rumer wrote.
“I am very aware that I have privileges in my life that many people don’t, and I don’t take that for granted.”
She further explained that while she respects the experiences of others, her recent post focused on the shared realities of parenthood rather than a discussion on privilege.
“I know there are realities I will never fully experience, and I respect that. But this particular post wasn’t about privilege or comparing circumstances, and it feels like people are assuming I was ignoring that when that wasn’t the conversation I was trying to have.”

“I take a lot of pride in providing for myself and for my daughter, and I’ve carried real financial stress and responsibility,”
she noted.
“There were years where I was the sole provider for multiple people, navigating pregnancy, inconsistent work, and the uncertainty that comes with that. So the idea that I don’t work or don’t understand financial pressure isn’t accurate.”
She emphasized that her financial independence and the privileges she acknowledges can coexist without contradiction.
