Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox Return to Young and Restless

The Young and the Restless will welcome back Shemar Moore in his role as Malcolm Winters this April, alongside Vivica A. Fox, who reprises her character Dr. Stephanie Simmons after more than 30 years. This upcoming storyline, featuring both actors, promises to deliver unexpected twists affecting the residents of Genoa City.

The production team began filming scenes on February 17 for a multi-episode arc, as confirmed by Soap Central. The storyline explores the rekindling of past connections between Malcolm and Stephanie, whose romance originally unfolded in 1995.

Vivica A. Fox’s Evolution Since Her Early Soap Opera Days

Vivica A. Fox originally gained recognition on The Young and the Restless as Stephanie over three decades ago before pursuing a successful film career with roles in notable movies such as Independence Day, Kill Bill, and Batman and Robin. On television, Fox has appeared in guest roles on series like Living Single, Alias, The Hughleys, and Law & Order. Additionally, she portrayed Loretta Black for several episodes on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Fox’s soap opera roots extend beyond Y&R; she debuted on Generations playing Maya, a character involved in a memorable feud with Jonelle Allen’s Doreen. This storyline was penned by Michele Val Jean and revolved around a love triangle involving Doreen’s lover and Maya’s father, Dr. Daniel Ruebens, played by Richard Roundtree.

Shemar Moore’s Lasting Impact as Malcolm Winters

Shemar Moore first joined The Young and the Restless in 1994, portraying Malcolm Winters, the half-brother of Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John). His portrayal earned him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2000. Although Moore left the show in 2002, he has made several returns for guest appearances and story arcs over the years.

Outside of Y&R, Moore gained widespread fame playing Derek Morgan on CBS’s Criminal Minds and later starred as Sergeant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson in S.W.A.T. In addition, he has experience as a host, having led the syndicated music show Soul Train.

Current and Upcoming Projects for Fox and Moore

Vivica A. Fox is set to appear in the upcoming MGM/Amazon film Is God Is, releasing this May, while Shemar Moore continues his role in S.W.A.T. Exiles, expanding his television presence.

The creative leadership of The Young and the Restless includes head writer and executive producer Josh Griffith and co-executive producer Sally McDonald, overseeing the return of these veteran actors to the daytime drama.
