Colman Domingo Scores 3 NAACP Award Nods Including President’s Award

Colman Domingo will be honored with the President’s Award during the 57th NAACP Image Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 28, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. This recognition highlights his contributions to public service and aligns with the values celebrated by the NAACP.

Nominations for Outstanding Roles and Direction on Netflix Series

The West Philadelphia native and Temple University graduate has earned nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series and outstanding director in a comedy series, both for his work on Netflix’s comedy series The Four Seasons. These nods affirm Domingo’s growing influence in television.

Recognition from Industry Leaders and Past Award Recipients

BET president Louis Carr praised Domingo’s creative impact, stating,

“Coleman Domingo represents the power of creativity to bring people together and move culture forward.”

Carr added,

Previous recipients of the NAACP President’s Award include prominent figures such as Dave Chappelle, Usher, Gabrielle Union-Wade, and LeBron James.

Recent Achievements and Future Projects

Earlier this year, Domingo won the NAACP Image Award for outstanding actor for his role in Netflix’s Rustin and received the award for outstanding supporting actor for The Color Purple. Additionally, he is developing a biopic titled Unforgettable about the legendary musician Nat King Cole, a project he co-wrote, will direct, produce, and star in. The film is set to explore Cole’s musical achievements and activism for racial justice, with filming starting later this year.

Upcoming Honors and Public Appearances

Domingo is also slated to deliver the commencement address at Temple University on May 6, 2026, at the Liacouras Center, where he will be awarded an honorary degree. The NAACP Image Awards broadcast on BET and CBS will showcase Domingo’s multiple nominations and his dedication to community and culture.
