Stephen King drew widespread criticism online on Monday after a controversial post falsely claiming that President Donald Trump has no children. The post emerged days before Trump is scheduled to deliver his 2026 State of the Union address, focusing on border security, tax reforms, and economic progress.
False Accusation on Trump’s Family Provokes Backlash
In a social media post on X, Stephen King stated that President Trump “has never had a child” and criticized his personal and professional life, alleging failures in business, lack of practical experience, and unkindness to colleagues. King wrote:
Trump: has never had a child. Has been married 3 times. Ran several businesses into the ground. Never ran a home, couldn’t make a bed to save his a–. Calls people he works with dumb, losers, ect. Has never done sweat labor. Has never served on a local committee,
further adding that Trump “has no life experience.”
King’s remarks triggered immediate pushback from various social media users, including politically engaged figures and groups. The account Libs of TikTok responded with disbelief, posting:
Trump literally has 5 kids. What is this sh–?
Meanwhile, Ryan Girdusky, founder of the 1776 Project PAC, noted:
Um… I’m pretty sure Donald Trump had children,
and conservative writer Bonchie questioned:
Is there a 25th Amendment for taking peoples’ phones away?

In a sarcastic tone, conservative reporter Jerry Dunleavy tweeted: Donald Trump, famously childless. These counter-comments underscored the inaccuracy of King’s claim, as President Trump is well known to be the father of five children over his two presidential terms.
Context of King’s Political Commentary and Social Media Conduct
Stephen King’s critical statements about Trump are consistent with his prior public pronouncements. Since Trump began his second term, King has frequently expressed strong disapproval of the president’s policies and character. For example, in February 2025, King called Trump a “traitorous, Putin-loving dipsh–,” also criticizing Elon Musk alongside him.
King further intensified his rhetoric by comparing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to Nazi Germany‘s Gestapo, describing ICE as “the American Gestapo.” He has also blamed Trump for economic struggles, accusing him of
“ruining the economy with his stupid tariffs”
in an April post.
Despite the widespread response, King’s office did not provide any comment when asked about the intentions or accuracy of his latest social media statements.
Similar Attacks Targeting Other Political Figures
King’s false family claim comes shortly after a similar wave of criticism aimed at Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent progressive Democrat. An account named Stacy is Right, identifying as a MAGA mother of three, posted disparaging comments about Ocasio-Cortez’s background, mocking her for never having been married, lacking children, business experience, or a “professional job.”
King reshared this critical post before posting his inaccurate statements about Trump, leading to accusations of plagiarism. Matt Van Swol, a former Department of Energy nuclear scientist, accused King on X:
You literally plagiarized an entire post…which was about AOC… and then applied it to Trump…… for whom it isn’t true and doesn’t make any sense. Why are you plagiarizing? I thought you were a writer?
Political Climate Ahead of State of the Union
President Trump is preparing to deliver the State of the Union address on Tuesday evening. The speech will highlight border security, tax cuts, and economic improvements amid heightened tensions in Congress. Some Democrats are planning protests and a potential walkout, setting the stage for a contentious political showdown before the upcoming midterm elections.
Lawmakers from both parties are bracing for a high-stakes environment as they navigate division within and outside the Capitol. In this polarized atmosphere, statements like King’s continue to fuel heated debates over both facts and political narratives.
