Samuel L. Jackson Stars in Taylor Sheridan’s New Frisco King

Samuel L Jackson Frisco King is the title of Taylor Sheridan’s revamped Tulsa King spinoff, set to debut on Paramount+. The series, previously known as NOLA King and originally planned to take place in New Orleans, has now been relocated to Frisco, Texas, with Sheridan writing all eight episodes.

Major Changes Lead to New Setting and Creative Direction

The project experienced significant changes after Dave Erickson, who was initially the showrunner and authored the pilot script, exited the series in July. There has been no announcement regarding a replacement showrunner, and it remains uncertain if the series will have one, as some of Sheridan’s other works operate without a dedicated showrunner. Production for Frisco King is scheduled to start in late March in Fort Worth, Texas, where Taylor Sheridan and producer David C. Glasser launched a production campus last year.

Taylor Sheridan’s Extensive Role in His Television Universe

Taylor Sheridan is the creative force behind multiple popular television productions, having written the first seasons of Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown, along with every episode of Yellowstone’s spinoffs 1883 and 1923, as well as the entirety of Lioness and Landman to date. With Tulsa King, he currently holds a co-writer credit exclusively on the pilot episode. This new series, Frisco King, marks the first time Sheridan will write an entire season for a Taylor Sheridan–created project under the recent leadership changes at Paramount+ and Paramount Television Studios.

Production Details and Key Contributors

The character at the center of Frisco King, Russell Lee Washington Jr., portrayed by Samuel L. Anticipated Impact on the Franchise and Next Steps

As Sheridan continues his deal that will extend to NBCUniversal in 2029, fans and industry watchers alike are eager to see how the relocation to Texas and the full-season writing by Sheridan will shape the narrative. Starting production soon in Fort Worth positions the series for potential release under the new Paramount+ leadership, marking an important moment in the evolving franchise.
