Actor Robert De Niro issued a striking prediction about President Donald Trump during an interview on Monday, expressing a firm belief that Trump will not willingly leave office. De Niro made these remarks while speaking with Nicolle Wallace, the host of MS NOW’s podcast The Best People, emphasizing the urgency for public action regarding Trump’s presidency.
De Niro Predicts Trump’s Refusal to Relinquish Power
During the conversation, De Niro stated flatly, “He will never leave,” referring to Trump’s continued hold on the presidency. He expanded on this warning, pressing the public to take matters into their own hands.
“We have to make him leave. He jokes now about nationalizing the elections. He’s not joking. We’ve seen enough already,”
De Niro said, underscoring the actor’s concern over what he views as serious threats to the democratic process.
When asked if he believed Trump would vacate the White House within three years, De Niro responded with certainty, saying, “He ain’t leaving. No way.” The actor followed this by saying,
“Let’s not kid ourselves. He will not leave. It’s up to us to get rid of him.”
Trump’s Own Comments on Potential Third Term
Despite the 22nd Amendment limiting presidents to two terms, Trump has not ruled out a possible third run. In a separate interview with NBC News, the president said,
“A lot of people want me to do it,”
adding,
“But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.”
He continued,
“I’m not joking. But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.”
These comments have fueled debates about the boundaries of presidential term limits and the political climate heading into future elections.
Calls for Voter Mobilization and Peaceful Demonstrations
Concerned about fairness in upcoming elections, De Niro encouraged Americans to engage actively in monitoring polling places during the midterms. He emphasized the importance of peaceful protests and broad citizen involvement to safeguard democracy.

“People have to mobilize now and be ready for the midterms so there’s no question that it’s a fair election,”
he urged.
Drawing parallels to the Vietnam War protests, De Niro declared,
“Like Vietnam, you got to get out there and protest. No Kings — 7, 8, 9 million — it’s got to be way, way more than that,”
insisting on widespread participation. He added,
“Everybody has to get out there in every way possible,”
pointing out that what the country stands for is being threatened.
“Everything that this country has worked for … represents — he’s ruining it. And it’s right before your eyes.”
Tense History Between De Niro and Trump
The outspoken actor has a long track record of criticizing Trump, whom he has previously labeled “an embarrassment to this country.” Conversely, Trump has dismissed De Niro’s opinions by claiming the actor
suffers from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
On the podcast, De Niro expressed a desire to reclaim the nation, stating,
“this is our country. I want my country back.”
He rejected the exclusivity implied by some Trump supporters, saying,
“I don’t want everybody going around — MAGA with their American flags — like they’re the only ones,”
and adding, “We are the Americans too.”
The Political Climate and Upcoming Challenges
De Niro’s statements come amid heightened political tensions, as midterm elections approach and concerns about the integrity of the democratic process grow. His call for widespread activism highlights the increasing urgency felt by many regarding the nation’s political trajectory. As public demonstrations and election monitoring become focal points, De Niro’s remarks contribute to the ongoing national debate over leadership and governance.
