Alec Baldwin Admits Lying About Cleaning To Wife Hilaria

Actor Alec Baldwin recently admitted to lying to his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, about cleaning their home theater, revealing the truth during a live podcast taping. The incident, which happened at their Amagansett, New York, residence, centered on Alec telling Hilaria he was going to tidy the basement screening room when, in fact, he planned to watch a movie instead. This revelation sheds light on a playful yet serious moment in their family life, involving Alec Baldwin lied cleaning.

Alec’s Love for The Beatles Sparks a Secret Viewing

On February 26, during a live recording of his iHeartRadio podcast, Here’s The Thing, Alec Baldwin, 67, talked about his passion for The Beatles and how it led him to sneak away to watch the three-part documentary The Beatles: Get Back. While Hilaria, 42, thought he was going to clean the basement home theater, Alec used that excuse to enjoy the film in privacy. He explained,

“I used to lie to my wife,”

highlighting how he escaped unnoticed to the basement screening room. As Hilaria questioned him, Alec responded,

“I’m going to go down and clean the screening room,”

but instead,

“I go down, I put on Get Back. I watched it in an hour and a half,”

before returning upstairs. His wife then commented,

“It must be very clean now.”

The Baldwins’ Expansive Amagansett Property and Home Features

The couple’s New York summer home is notable for its size and amenities, featuring five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a library, and a basement home theater. This 11,000-square-foot estate has been showcased in their reality show, The Baldwins, which gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the family’s daily life and their efforts to raise their eight children. Their home theater, originally designed for movie viewings, has been converted partly into a playroom for the children.

Adjusting to Married Life in a Shared Space

Married since 2012, Alec and Hilaria have occasionally struggled to align their household habits. Early on, conflicts arose over items like the kitchen pantry, which Hilaria wanted to clear of expired goods. She explained,

“I picked the pantry because I didn’t think he was going to care,”

but Alec was vehemently opposed. Reflecting on this, Alec described the situation as,

“That was the beginning of the whole thermonuclear reaction of you taking over the house,”

adding,

“She started out slowly, then it was like a coup d’état.”

The Couple’s Plans to Relocate and Future Outlook

Despite the grandeur of their Hamptons estate, the Baldwins recently revealed intentions to move their family elsewhere. In an interview, Hilaria mentioned,

“We don’t want to raise our kids in the Hamptons anymore,”

emphasizing their consideration of Los Angeles for a fresh start and renewed energy. The Amagansett farmhouse, described as a modern and spacious retreat, is currently listed for nearly $20 million through Scott Bradley of Saunders & Associates, down slightly from its previous asking price of $21 million posted in December 2025.

What This Means for the Baldwins’ Family Life

Alec Baldwin’s confession of lying about cleaning offers a glimpse into the everyday dynamics of a high-profile couple managing a large household. The tension between maintaining a family space and personal interests reflects broader challenges in balancing fame, family, and lifestyle. As they prepare for a potential move to Los Angeles, the Baldwins may find new rhythms for their growing family, shifting away from the East End’s quiet retreat to a different environment altogether.
