Elijah Wood Shares Rare Family Insights on His 2 Kids

Elijah Wood, known for his role in Lord of the Rings, has revealed new details about his life as a father. The 45-year-old actor and his wife, Mette-Marie Kongsved, are raising two children—a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. Despite his busy career, Wood is gradually introducing his kids to movies and entertainment, carefully considering what is appropriate for their ages.

Introducing Films to His Children with Caution

In an interview with The Times, Elijah Wood described the transition his children have made from toddlers to “kid-dom.” He explained,

“We’re well out of toddlerville and they’ve entered kid-dom. It’s incredible.”

Though he has started sharing classic movies like The Wizard of Oz with them, Wood has decided to delay showing his own films, including the Lord of the Rings series, until they are older.

“They have not [seen them],” he said, adding,

“But only because I genuinely don’t think they’re old enough. I feel like it might be appropriate when they are 8.”

Wood’s careful approach reflects his desire to protect his children from content he feels is too mature.

Deciding Against Showing Certain Older Films

Wood also mentioned the 1995 film Jumanji, starring the late Robin Williams. Despite the nostalgia for the movie, he admitted it was too intense for his kids’ current ages.

“[It’s] way scarier and more f–ked up than I remember,”

Elijah noted, underscoring his cautious approach when choosing what media his children consume.

Upcoming Projects and Continued Family Focus

As Elijah Wood prepares for the March 20 release of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, he remains focused on his family life. His thoughtful strategy in introducing entertainment to his children highlights the balance he seeks between his career and parenting responsibilities, aiming to ensure their experiences align with their emotional readiness.
