Viola Davis’ Amazon Thriller ‘Ally Clark’ Adds Jason Clarke

Australian actor Jason Clarke has been confirmed to star alongside Viola Davis in the forthcoming Amazon MGM thriller, Ally Clark. First announced last summer, the film is set to feature Davis as an investigator probing into a major international conglomerate following the suspicious death of a close friend. Clarke’s specific role has not been disclosed yet, but his addition to the cast signals strong momentum for the project as it moves toward production.

The Story and Production Team Behind ‘Ally Clark’

Directed by Phillip Noyce, Ally Clark follows Davis’s character as her investigation begins in New York City and then spans across the country—from the bayous of Louisiana to the remote wilderness of Alaska. The screenplay was co-written by Jose Ruisanchez and producer Irwin Winkler, who will produce alongside Charles Winkler and David Winkler through Winkler Films. Davis and Julius Tennon are also producing through JuVee Productions, with Melanie Clark and Ian Watermeier serving as executive producers.

Reuniting Jason Clarke and Viola Davis

This marks the second time Clarke and Davis have worked together, their previous collaboration being the 2010 drama Trust. Their renewed partnership adds a notable dimension to Ally Clark, generating anticipation for their on-screen dynamic within the thriller genre.

Jason Clarke’s Recent and Upcoming Projects

Clarke is currently involved in multiple high-profile projects. Alongside Ally Clark, he recently joined the cast of director Tom McCarthy’s upcoming film. Additionally, Clarke is set to star opposite Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo in Legendary’s live-action adaptation of Gundam for Netflix. He has also completed filming on the Warner Bros. action thriller F.A.S.T., written by Taylor Sheridan, and is signed on for Wind River: The Next Chapter.

His 2025 slate includes appearances in Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite, Hulu’s limited series Murdaugh: Death in the Family, where he portrays convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh, and Apple TV+’s The Last Frontier.

Release Plans and Future Developments for ‘Ally Clark’

Amazon MGM is currently targeting 2027 for the release of Ally Clark. As the production progresses, additional casting announcements are expected. The thriller’s premise and leading talent create anticipation among Amazon Prime Video audiences seeking gripping, character-driven stories.
