The reunion between Jesse Plemons and Connie Britton for the limited series ‘Zero Day’ was nothing short of a dream. “It was so wonderful,” Britton, 57, told Us Weekly exclusively at the show’s premiere in New York City on Tuesday, February 18. “When you get onto a set like this — a big show like this where it can feel pretty daunting — to have people there that you’ve worked with before, that you know and love and trust, it’s the best thing in the world.” Britton starred as Tami Taylor on ‘Friday Night Lights’ from 2006 to 2011 alongside Plemons, 36, who played Landry Clarke.
While speaking with Us at The Plaza Hotel, Britton expressed that she and Plemons “went right back” to how they were on the ‘FNL’ set. “It’s like we have our own language in a way,” she added. “It was just a real treat.” She also highlighted that despite his widespread success in Hollywood, Plemons hasn’t changed from the time they acted together years ago. “He still seems exactly the same to me,” she gushed. “He seems like Landry Clarke to me, except for while we’re shooting, he wins Best Actor at Cannes.” Plemons notably took home the award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ film ‘Kinds of Kindness.’
‘Zero Day’ is set to premiere on Netflix on Friday, February 20, featuring stars like Robert De Niro and Lizzy Caplan as George and Alexandra Mullen, respectively. Plemons will portray Roger Carlson, while Britton is slated to appear as Valerie Whitesell. The series also boasts an impressive cast, including Joan Allen, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Angela Bassett, Matthew Modine, and McKinley Belcher III.
Us Weekly also spoke to Modine, 65, on the red carpet, who was quick to share his admiration for one of his ‘Zero Day’ costars. The ‘Stranger Things’ star explained that he “moved to New York City” as a teenager because of De Niro, 81, and other famed actors, sharing how their success inspired him. “I wanted to come to New York City because that’s where they had grown up and gone to school,” he said.
Joan Allen, 68, echoed Modine’s sentiments about De Niro. “It was just the best,” she told Us on Tuesday’s red carpet. “It was a dream to be able to do it… He’s just so talented and so present, and so open and very kind and a great acting partner. You can’t ask for anything more than that.” The reunion of Jesse Plemons and Connie Britton in ‘Zero Day’ highlights the enduring chemistry between the two, harkening back to their time on ‘Friday Night Lights’ while also showcasing their individual growth as actors. This upcoming release is anticipated to be a significant event for fans of the original series and newcomers alike, reaffirming the strong impact of their collaboration.
