IBM to Acquire Software AG Integration Platforms for $2.33 Billion

IBM to Acquire Software AG: IBM announced on Monday its plans to acquire Software AG’s enterprise integration platforms for 2.13 billion euros ($2.33 billion), aiming to strengthen its artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud offerings. The acquisition will encompass Software AG’s StreamSets and webMethods platforms, which are part of the “Super Ipaas” business launched by Software AG in October. These platforms play a crucial role in application integration, API management, and data integration, among other functions.

The move comes as IBM seeks to enhance its capabilities in the rapidly evolving landscape of hybrid cloud solutions and next-generation AI applications. The acquisition will be funded using IBM’s available cash reserves. Software AG is primarily owned by private equity firm Silver Lake, holding a 93.3% stake in the German software company following a months-long takeover pursuit. The earlier takeover valued Software AG at 2.6 billion euros ($2.84 billion).
