Ajay Devgn‘s Raid 2 is nearing the ₹150 crore mark at the domestic box office, as it enters its third weekend in theaters. Released on May 1, the film continues to draw audiences and is currently the second-highest-grossing Bollywood title of 2024, behind Chhaava.
The film earned an estimated ₹6 crore on its third Sunday, pushing its 18-day total to just under ₹150 crore. It has now surpassed the lifetime domestic earnings of Devgn’s earlier release, Shaitaan, which ended its run at ₹148.21 crore. With this milestone, Raid 2 has become the sixth-highest grosser in the actor’s career, following Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Singham Again, Drishyam 2, Golmaal Again, and Total Dhamaal.
Made on an estimated budget of ₹40 crore, the Raj Kumar Gupta-directed sequel is already in profit. Reduced ticket prices starting in the second week contributed to sustaining footfall and helped push box office returns.
Despite its strong run, Raid 2 faced stiff competition over the weekend from major Hollywood releases. Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning brought in ₹4.65 crore in Hindi on its opening day and maintained similar earnings on day two. Final Destination: Bloodlines added further pressure, collecting over ₹1.5 crore in Hindi during the same period.
The coming week may present additional challenges. Two new Hindi films, Bhool Chuk Maaf and Kesari Veer, are scheduled to release on May 23 and could impact Raid 2’s earnings. Still, the film’s current performance indicates resilience despite the crowded marketplace.
Reports suggest that the success of Raid 2 has sparked plans for a third installment in the franchise. While no official confirmation has been made, the sequel’s performance strengthens the case for continuing the series.
Raid 2 stars Ajay Devgn reprising his role in the crime thriller and builds on the foundation laid by the original 2018 film. The movie has managed to sustain momentum through competitive weekends, driven by strong word of mouth and strategic pricing. How it weathers upcoming releases will determine whether it climbs higher on Devgn’s career box office rankings in the weeks ahead.
