Khaled Mohammed Khaled was born on November 26, 1975, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Palestinian immigrant parents. His father was from Al-Mazra’a ash-Sharqiya and his mother was from Ramallah. His brother, Alec Ledd, is an actor. Growing up in a household where his musician parents played Arabic music, Khaled developed an early interest in rap and soul music, and his family supported his passion for the craft.
As a young man, he worked in a New Orleans record store called Odyssey, where he met Birdman and Lil Wayne in 1993. These early connections would shape his later career. He also purchased Robbie Williams’ former house in the Mulholland Estates gated community in Los Angeles, California, in January 2017. He has described himself as a devout Muslim and, in December 2022, visited Mecca with Mike Tyson to participate in the Umrah pilgrimage.
