Adam Borics Bio
Ádám Borics (born July 7, 1993) is a Hungarian mixed martial artist who competes in the Featherweight division of the Professional Fighters League. A former Bellator MMA title challenger, Borics has built a reputation as one of Hungary’s most accomplished MMA exports, known to fans as “The Kid.” He currently trains out of Kill Cliff FC and resides in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Across his professional career, Borics has compiled an extensive record in the featherweight class, finishing opponents with knockouts, submissions, and decisions. His journey from a small Hungarian village to major American fight promotions has made him a notable figure in European MMA.
Early Life and Background
Ádám Borics was born in Eger, Hungary, on July 7, 1993. He was raised in the nearby village of Sirok, where he attended school and spent much of his free time working out and playing football. The rhythms of small-town Hungarian life shaped his early years before martial arts entered the picture.
At the age of 16, Borics began training Muay Thai alongside a friend, and the following year he stepped into an MMA gym for the first time. He quickly fell in love with the sport and began competing in amateur Kempo and MMA matches during secondary school. He was also admitted to the University of Physical Education, but he chose to redirect his financial and physical resources toward training, working as a masseuse and teaching sessions to support his dream.
Path to MMA
After finishing secondary school, Borics moved back to Eger to access better training opportunities. To fund his gym time, he balanced MMA coaching with massage work, sharpening his grappling and striking during long days that combined labor and sport. This period laid the foundation for his professional debut.
Borics made his professional debut on August 1, 2014, at HFC 5, submitting Dániel Hajzer via heel hook in just over a minute. He quickly piled up wins inside the Hungarian Fight Championship, capturing the HFC 65 kg belt in November 2014 by disqualification and defending it twice before departing the promotion with a 6–0 record at the end of 2015. Regional bouts in Sarajevo and Vienna at Final Fight Championship events broadened his experience against international opposition.
Adam Borics Career
Early Career (2014–2016)
Borics’ first professional phase unfolded primarily on the Hungarian circuit, where he built a perfect record through HFC and FFC. His finishes included triangle chokes, knockouts, and split-decision wins that showcased an evolving all-around game. By the end of 2016, he had eight professional victories and the attention of larger promotions abroad.
In early 2017, Borics traveled to the United States for a short training camp with Hard Knocks 365, the team that later became Sanford MMA. That trip led to his Bellator MMA opportunity, which set the course for the next chapter of his career.
Bellator Breakthrough (2017–2019)
Borics made his Bellator debut at Bellator 177 on April 14, 2017, in Budapest, the promotion’s first event in Hungary. He submitted Anthony Taylor via rear-naked choke to earn a four-fight Bellator contract. Shortly afterward, he relocated to the United States with his wife.
A hand fracture delayed his return, but Borics came back strong at Bellator 196 in April 2018, knocking out Teodor Nikolov with his signature flying knee. He followed that with a third-round submission of Josenaldo Silva at Bellator 205, and then produced one of the biggest wins of his career at Bellator 222 on June 14, 2019, stopping Aaron Pico by TKO via flying knee at Madison Square Garden. After four consecutive finishes in Bellator, Borics was selected for the Bellator Featherweight Tournament, where he opened with a TKO of former champion Pat Curran at Bellator 226.
Title Push and Setbacks (2020–2022)
Borics’ tournament run hit a wall in the quarterfinals at Bellator 238, where Darrion Caldwell submitted him with a rear-naked choke in the opening round, handing “The Kid” his first career defeat. Borics responded with consecutive catchweight wins over Mike Hamell and Erick Sánchez in 2020, then outpointed Jeremy Kennedy at Bellator 256 in April 2021.
A scheduled bout with Jay-Jay Wilson was scrapped at Bellator 265 when Wilson missed weight, but Borics soon headlined against Mads Burnell at Bellator 276 in March 2022, winning by unanimous decision in a fight widely regarded as one of the year’s most entertaining. His momentum earned him a shot at the Bellator Featherweight Championship against Patrício Pitbull at Bellator 286 on October 1, 2022, where he lost a unanimous decision but cemented his place among the division’s elite.
Professional Fighters League Era (2024–Present)
Borics entered the Professional Fighters League with a decision win over Enrique Barzola at PFL 3 on April 19, 2024. A scheduled June 2024 bout with Brett Johns fell through when Borics withdrew from the card. In February 2025, the promotion confirmed his entry into the 2025 PFL Featherweight Tournament.
Borics opened the 2025 tournament against Jesus Pinedo at PFL 1 on April 3, 2025, and was stopped via first-round TKO. He returned as an alternate at PFL 5 on June 12, 2025, earning a majority decision over Jeremy Kennedy to bounce back into the bracket.
Fighting Style and Strengths
Standing around 180 cm with a 179 cm reach, Borics pairs a sharp striking base rooted in Muay Thai with a black belt in Kenpō and a growing grappling arsenal. His signature weapon is the flying knee, the same strike he used to finish Teodor Nikolov and Aaron Pico, and he remains comfortable working from the clinch or hunting submissions on the mat. Training at Kill Cliff FC has paired him with high-level sparring partners for the modern featherweight landscape.
Notable Events and Milestones
Borics’ first-round flying-knee TKO of Aaron Pico at Madison Square Garden stands as his signature Bellator moment, while his title challenge against Patrício Pitbull at Bellator 286 marked the high point of his Bellator run. He is also the former HFC 65 kg champion, a title he captured in 2014 and defended twice before transitioning to international competition.
