Britain Covey (born March 18, 1997) is an American professional football wide receiver and return specialist. He has played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams. Covey is best known for his work on punt and kick returns, and he is a Super Bowl champion.
Standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 173 pounds, Covey built his reputation as a dynamic special teams player during his college career at the University of Utah. After going unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent and quickly carved out a role as a reliable return man.

Britain Covey was born on March 18, 1997, in Provo, Utah. He grew up in the same community and attended Timpview High School, where he developed into one of the most productive two-way players in Utah high school football history. Covey is the grandson of author Stephen Covey, best known for writing The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
As a high school athlete, Covey spent two seasons as starting quarterback and led Timpview to a 26-0 combined record. He threw for 4,492 yards and 56 touchdowns, while also adding 2,904 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns on the ground. He finished his prep career fourth all-time in Utah with 111 total touchdowns and was twice named Utah Valley Football Player of the Year. In 2015, he also earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Utah National Parks Council.
Path to American Football
Covey’s route to professional football began with a commitment to the University of Utah, where he immediately contributed as a true freshman in 2015. He started eight games and led the team with 43 receptions for 519 yards and four touchdowns, earning Freshman All-American recognition as a punt returner. Following his freshman season, Covey took a two-year break from football to serve an LDS mission in Chile, missing the 2016 and 2017 campaigns.
He returned to Utah in 2018 and resumed his role as a featured receiver and returner. Britain Covey signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He was waived during final roster cuts but was quickly added to the practice squad and elevated to the active roster in time for the season opener against the Detroit Lions. In that Week 1 debut, he returned two punts for 13 yards.
Covey went on to play a key role in the Eagles’ postseason run, highlighted by a Week 13 performance against the Tennessee Titans in which he returned six punts for 105 yards, averaging 17.5 yards per return. He helped Philadelphia reach Super Bowl LVII, where he recorded two punt returns for 35 yards in a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Covey’s most productive NFL season came in 2023, when he established himself as one of the league’s premier returners. He was elevated to the active roster for the first two games before being permanently signed in mid-September. In Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he delivered 111 return yards, including a 52-yard punt return, in a 25-11 victory.
