Carson Meyer is an American professional ice hockey right winger for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Columbus Blue Jackets selected him in the sixth round, 179th overall, of the 2017 NHL entry draft. He previously played college ice hockey for the Miami RedHawks and the Ohio State Buckeyes before beginning his professional career in 2021.
Early Life and Background
Carson Meyer was born on August 18, 1997, in Powell, Ohio, to Todd and Holly Meyer. He grew up in central Ohio at a time when the city of Columbus was about to welcome a new National Hockey League franchise. When Meyer was three years old, the Columbus Blue Jackets joined the NHL, an event that inspired him to pick up ice hockey and pursue the sport with a clear goal in mind.
Meyer attended Olentangy Liberty High School, where he tried lacrosse for one season before leaving the sport to focus on hockey.
