Early Life and Background
Demarcus Dontavian Robinson was born on September 21, 1994, in Fort Valley, Georgia, USA. He grew up in a community with deep football ties, and his uncle, Marcus Robinson, played wide receiver in the NFL for the Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings from 1997 to 2006. That family connection gave him early insight into the demands of professional football and helped shape his path toward the sport.
Robinson attended Peach County High School, where he played high school football and developed into a college prospect. His combination of size, athleticism, and family-driven motivation drew the attention of college recruiters, and he ultimately committed to the University of Florida.
Path to the NFL
Robinson played his collegiate career at Florida from 2013 to 2015, working his way from a limited freshman role into a featured passing option. As a freshman in 2013, he appeared in seven games and finished with five receptions for 23 yards. His production jumped in 2014, when he started 11 of 12 games and recorded 53 receptions for 810 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, establishing himself as a breakout playmaker for the Gators.
As a junior in 2015, Robinson led the Gators with 48 receptions, adding 522 receiving yards and two touchdowns across 13 games and nine starts. On December 21, 2015, head coach Jim McElwain announced that Robinson and teammate Kelvin Taylor would forgo their senior seasons and enter the 2016 NFL draft. Robinson was one of 43 collegiate wide receivers to attend the NFL Scouting Combine and also worked out at Florida’s pro day before being projected as a fifth-to-seventh-round selection.

Demarcus Robinson Personal Life
Family Background and Personal Life
Robinson’s uncle, Marcus Robinson, played wide receiver in the NFL for the Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings from 1997 to 2006, giving the Robinson family a strong football lineage. Beyond his connection to his uncle, Robinson has kept most of his personal life private.
2025 Season Performance
Robinson entered the 2025 season with the San Francisco 49ers after signing a two-year, $9.5 million contract in March. He was suspended for the first three games of the year for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, forcing him to begin his 49ers tenure on the sideline. The suspension delayed his opportunity to build chemistry with his new quarterback and offensive scheme.
Once eligible to return, Robinson was expected to compete for a rotational role within the 49ers’ receiver group, offering size, experience, and red-zone reliability. His track record of seven touchdowns in 2024 with the Rams suggested he could quickly re-establish himself as a situational target. The remainder of the 2025 season offered a chance to contribute to a contender while reinforcing his value for the second year of his San Francisco contract.
