    Early Life and Background

Elvis Antonio Peguero was born on March 20, 1997, in the Dominican Republic. He grew up in a country with a deep baseball tradition, and like many Dominican prospects, he pursued a professional career through the international signing system that connects young players to Major League organizations.

As a teenager, Peguero drew the attention of scouts and signed with the New York Yankees on July 2, 2015. He began his professional journey in the Dominican Summer League, where young international signees typically begin their development before advancing to affiliate ball in the United States.

    Path to Baseball

Peguero began his career in the Dominican Summer League in 2016, posting a 2–7 record with a 4.39 ERA and 43 strikeouts. He moved to the Gulf Coast League Yankees in 2017 and returned later that season to the DSL, where he struggled at times but continued refining his craft.

In 2018, Peguero spent the full season with the GCL Yankees, making nine appearances. The following year he advanced to the Pulaski Yankees, where he made 15 appearances and recorded a 4.19 ERA with 29 strikeouts, showing steady progress in the lower minors.

The 2020 minor league season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Peguero returned strongly in 2021. He opened the year with the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades, going 3–1 with a 2.51 ERA and 40 strikeouts, and was promoted to the Double-A Somerset Patriots in July.

His assignment to the Pulaski Yankees in 2019 marked a step forward, and the canceled 2020 season gave him time to prepare for a push toward full-season affiliates. By mid-2021, his development had placed him within striking distance of the major leagues.

    Los Angeles Angels (2021–2022)

On July 30, 2021, Peguero was traded to the Los Angeles Angels along with Janson Junk in exchange for Andrew Heaney. The Angels assigned him to the Double-A Rocket City Trash Pandas and later promoted him to the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. On August 25, 2021, Los Angeles selected Peguero’s contract, and he made his major league debut the following day against the Baltimore Orioles.

Peguero made 13 appearances for the Angels in 2022, working out of the bullpen while also logging time with Salt Lake. He was re-added to the 40-man roster after the 2021 season to be protected from the Rule 5 draft, signaling the organization’s continued interest in his arm.

    Milwaukee Brewers (2023–2025)

On November 22, 2022, the Angels traded Peguero, Junk, and Adam Seminaris to the Milwaukee Brewers for Hunter Renfroe. He was optioned to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds to open 2023 before reaching the majors. Peguero made his Brewers debut on April 23, 2023, against the Boston Red Sox, and went on to appear in 59 games, posting a 4–5 record and a 3.38 ERA with 54 strikeouts and one save.

In 2024, Peguero became a regular member of the Milwaukee bullpen, making 52 appearances and recording a 7–4 record with a 2.98 ERA, 47 strikeouts, and two saves across 51+1⁄3 innings. He began the 2025 season with the Brewers, pitching in six contests with a 4.91 ERA before being designated for assignment on July 31, 2025.

    Chicago White Sox (2025)

On August 3, 2025, Peguero was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox. He made two appearances, including one start, but struggled to a 13.50 ERA over two innings of work. On October 13, he was removed from the 40-man roster and sent outright to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, then elected free agency on November 6.

    Notable Events and Milestones

Peguero’s MLB debut on August 26, 2021, against the Baltimore Orioles marked the culmination of a six-year climb through the Yankees’ system. His 2024 season with Milwaukee, in which he posted a 2.98 ERA over 52 appearances, stands as his most consistent major league campaign to date.
