    Lachlan Brook Bio

Lachlan Ricky Brook (born 8 February 2001) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a winger for A-League Men club Auckland FC. Brook came through the Adelaide United youth system and made his professional debut for the club in 2017, before transferring to English club Brentford in 2020.

During his time in England, Brook gained competitive experience on loan with Crewe Alexandra during the 2022–23 season. He returned to Australia with Western Sydney Wanderers in 2023 and later moved to Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake in 2024. After a spell on the fringe, Brook signed with Auckland FC in 2025. He has been capped by Australia at youth level.

    Early Life and Background

Lachlan Ricky Brook was born on 8 February 2001 in Gawler, South Australia, Australia. Raised in his home state, Brook developed an early interest in soccer, joining local clubs and progressing through structured youth pathways before reaching the professional ranks.

Before entering the A-League system, Brook spent his formative years playing for several South Australian community and development sides, including Gawler Eagles, Para Hills Knights, FFSA NTC, and the FFA Centre of Excellence. He also featured for Adelaide Raiders SC, gaining broad exposure across regional and national youth setups. In November 2016, at age 15, he joined the Adelaide United youth system, marking a decisive step toward senior football.

    Path to Professional Soccer

Brook’s progression at Adelaide United was rapid. His development was strong enough that he was included in the first-team squad for the club’s final 2017 AFC Champions League group stage match against Jiangsu Suning on 9 May 2017. He made his professional debut that same day, coming off the bench as a substitute for Riley McGree in the dying minutes of a 1–0 defeat. The appearance confirmed his status as one of the club’s top young prospects.

Across the 2017–18, 2018–19, and 2019–20 seasons, Brook split his time between Adelaide United’s youth teams and the senior side, making nine first-team appearances during that span. Among those outings was a substitute cameo late in the 4–0 2019 FFA Cup Final victory over Melbourne City. His only senior goal for Adelaide arrived in a 5–3 A-League win over Perth Glory on 30 July 2020. For his performances during the 2019–20 season, Brook shared the Adelaide United Youth Player of the Year award with Taras Gomulka.

    Lachlan Brook Career

    Adelaide United Years (2017–2020)

Brook joined Adelaide United’s youth system in November 2016 and debuted for the senior team less than six months later, in May 2017. Able to play across the forward line, he balanced reserve football with first-team opportunities, registering nine senior appearances over three seasons. His standout moments included a cameo in the 2019 FFA Cup Final triumph and his first senior goal against Perth Glory in July 2020.

In June 2020, Brook signed a new two-year contract with Adelaide United. However, just months later, on 5 October 2020, he departed Hindmarsh Stadium and moved abroad to join Brentford’s B team in England, signaling the start of his European chapter.

    Brentford and English Football (2020–2023)

On 5 October 2020, Brook signed a three-year contract with Championship club Brentford, with the option of a further year, for an undisclosed fee. He was assigned to the club’s B team and played exclusively at that level for more than a year, continuing his development within a competitive English football environment.

In January 2022, Brook rejoined Adelaide United on loan until the end of the 2021–22 A-League Men season. He made 19 appearances during the second half of the campaign, which ended with defeat at the semi-final stage of the 2022 A-League Men Finals. Later in 2022, he moved on loan to League Two side Crewe Alexandra for the 2022–23 season.

On the opening day of the 2022–23 season, Brook scored what proved to be the winner on his competitive debut in English football, in a 2–1 victory over Rochdale at Spotland. His run in the team was cut short by an ankle injury suffered during a 2–2 draw with Northampton Town on 20 August 2022, and he returned to action roughly one month later. He finished the campaign with 34 appearances and three goals during a mid-table season for Crewe.

Return to Australia and Western Sydney Wanderers (2023–2024)

On 15 June 2023, Brook signed a two-year contract with A-League Men club Western Sydney Wanderers on a free transfer. The move marked his return to Australian top-flight football after three years in the English system.

During the 2023–24 season, Brook made 25 appearances and joint-top scored 14 goals for the Wanderers, a strong return that underlined his growth as an attacking winger. Five of those goals came on his debut in a 6–1 Australia Cup round-of-32 win over Floreat Athena on 9 August 2023. He departed the club in July 2024.

    Real Salt Lake Era (2024–2025)

On 23 July 2024, Brook transferred to Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake, signing an 18-month contract with options for two further years. He made seven appearances during the remainder of the 2024 season, which ended with defeat in the first round of the MLS Cup playoffs.

Brook was on the fringe during the 2025 season, making just 11 appearances for Real Salt Lake and its feeder side, Real Monarchs. His contract was terminated by mutual consent on 29 July 2025, paving the way for his return to the A-League.

    Auckland FC Era (2025–Present)

On 6 August 2025, Brook signed an undisclosed-length contract with A-League Men club Auckland FC on a free transfer. The move brought him back to top-flight football in his home region and reunited him with a league environment he knows well from his Adelaide United years.
