Alhassan “Lalas” Abubakar (born 25 December 1994) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Major League Soccer club FC Dallas. Alhassan Abubakar was born on 25 December 1994 in Kumasi, Ghana, and was raised in the capital city of Accra. Growing up in Ghana provided him with early exposure to football, a sport deeply embedded in the country’s culture. He attended the University of Ghana, where he played for the university’s football team and began to attract attention for his performances as a defender.
In 2013, after one of his teammates at the University of Ghana was selected to join the Dayton Flyers programme in the United States, Abubakar was also offered a place following a recommendation from his friend.
