Sofia Garcia Bio
Sofia Linette García Peralta (born 22 June 1998) is a Paraguayan professional golfer who competes on the LPGA Tour. Born in Asunción, she built one of the strongest amateur résumés in Paraguayan golf history before transitioning to the professional ranks in 2021. Since then she has moved through the Women’s All-Pro Tour and the Epson Tour and earned full status on the LPGA Tour.
Early Life and Background
García was born on 22 June 1998 in Asunción, Paraguay. Growing up in the Paraguayan capital, she was introduced to golf at a young age and developed her game against a deeper regional and international amateur field. Her early progress was marked by an unusually quick rise through the junior ranks in South America.
As a junior she won the South American Junior Championship in 2013 by ten strokes, an early signal of the margin she could build when playing her best golf. She went on to win the South American Amateur Golf Championship in both 2015 and 2016, becoming the first player from Paraguay to capture that title. In 2019, she added the Dutch International Junior Open to her amateur list.
Path to Golf
García represented Paraguay repeatedly on the international amateur stage. She played for her country at the Campeonato Sudamericano Copa Los Andes seven times between 2012 and 2019, and at the Espirito Santo Trophy in 2016 and 2018. At the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, she teamed with Fabrizio Zanotti, Julieta Granada, and Carlos Franco to win the silver medal in the mixed team event.
She attended Texas Tech University from 2016 to 2021, playing for the Texas Tech Red Raiders women’s golf team. During her college career she posted a 72.2 stroke average, which set a school record, and won four tournaments. She was also selected to the winning Arnold Palmer Cup teams in 2019 and 2020 and received invitations to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in both 2020 and 2021.

Early Career (2021)
After graduating from Texas Tech in 2021, García turned professional and prepared for LPGA qualifying. While getting ready for Q-School she played the Women’s All-Pro Tour, where she finished as runner-up twice and ended the season fifth on the Order of Merit. Those results gave her momentum heading into the qualifying rounds.
She joined the Epson Tour in 2022, the official developmental circuit of the LPGA Tour. During that season she recorded five top-10 finishes, including a season-best runner-up at the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic, where she finished three strokes behind Fátima Fernández Cano.
