Taylor Swift’s Leaked Texts Mock Justin Baldoni Amid Lawsuit

The ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni expanded recently when text messages between Lively and Taylor Swift were publicly disclosed, revealing harsh remarks about Baldoni. This conflict, centered around allegations of misconduct during the filming of It Ends With Us, has drawn significant public attention since December 2024. The presence of Swift, a close friend of Lively and a major music figure, adds complexity to the case involving these Hollywood stars.

The lawsuit began when Blake Lively accused Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director on It Ends With Us, of sexual harassment and launching a campaign to damage her reputation. Meanwhile, Baldoni countered with a $400 million defamation suit, asserting that Lively fabricated allegations to take control of the film’s production and malign his career, allegedly enlisting the help of influential celebrities like Swift.

Details Emerge on Text Exchanges Showing Swift and Lively’s Disparaging Remarks About Baldoni

New court documents have come to light, revealing private conversations in which Lively disparaged Baldoni, describing him as

“this doofus director of my movie”

and labeling him “a clown” who “thinks he’s a writer now.” Swift appeared supportive of Lively’s efforts to revise the film’s script, reportedly promising, “I’ll do anything for you!!” according to Baldoni’s legal team.

Evidence suggests Swift endorsed the revised script during a meeting at Lively’s apartment, adding weight to the conflict over creative control. Following that gathering, Lively messaged Swift, praising her loyalty:

“You were so epically heroic today… You are the worlds absolute greatest friend ever.”

Shortly before Lively publicized her accusations against Baldoni in an interview with The New York Times, Swift allegedly sent a text insinuating that Baldoni was anticipating the coming allegations:

“I think this b*tch knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin,”

according to the disclosed messages.

Lively has denied claims that she solicited Swift’s endorsement of the script without review or that her friend was involved in strategizing her accusations.

Baldoni’s Allegations of Pressure Linked to Lively’s Celebrity Connections

Within his January 2025 countersuit, Baldoni accused Lively of wielding influence through her ties to major figures like Swift and Ryan Reynolds to force him to accept her rewritten script. Lively’s text exchanges included comments that Baldoni could benefit from her connections with both Reynolds and Swift, highlighting the intertwined personal and professional stakes.

Among the leaked communications, Lively asserted,

“I sent Taylor the script on her way to my apartment because Justin was still there, and I asked her to read them,”

adding,

“I told her she didn’t have to, I didn’t want her to feel pressured to do that, but I hoped that she would.”

Despite Baldoni’s claims, his countersuit was dismissed by US District Judge Lewis J. Liman in June 2025, clearing the path for the primary lawsuit to advance.

The court unsealed these text messages on January 20 ahead of a summary judgment hearing scheduled for January 22, with the main trial set to commence on May 18, where Taylor Swift is listed as a potential witness for Lively.

Derogatory Language and Intimidation Allegedly Used Against Baldoni by Lively and Swift

The released documents reveal that Swift criticized Baldoni’s choice to feature her song, “My Tears Ricochet,” in the It Ends With Us trailer, arguing that it gave Lively more control over the film’s narrative. Swift wrote,

“If Justin was strategic he would be like no Taylor swift in the trailer because that gives you more power over the film, that’s your ally not his.”

Lively agreed, replying,

“You are so right…He should’ve run from your music…How stupid. This was his only shot at having the appearance of an upper hand.”

Additionally, Baldoni’s lawyers claim Lively boasted about rewriting the script and directing actors in conversations with actors Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, disparaging Baldoni as a “chaotic clown.”

In one text, Lively likened Swift to a protective “dragon” during a trip to Baldoni’s apartment to discuss rewrites, stating:

“If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons.”

She continued,

“Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. You will too, I can promise you.”

This imagery was reportedly used to intimidate Baldoni during their meeting.

Taylor Swift’s Role and Public Position Amid the Legal Turmoil

Despite the leaked messages and involvement in the legal proceedings, Swift has attempted to distance herself from the dispute. A representative issued a statement clarifying her limited connection to It Ends With Us. They emphasized,

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film.”

According to the statement, Swift first viewed the movie weeks after its public release, during a demanding period while

“headlining the biggest tour in history.”

Her involvement officially was limited to granting permission to use her song “My Tears Ricochet.” The representative accused Baldoni’s team of exploiting Swift’s name to

“draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

Swift and Lively’s decade-long friendship is well-known, with the pop icon serving as godmother to Lively’s three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty. Nevertheless, the two have not been publicly seen together since the legal controversy arose.

Public Reaction to the Leaked Texts and Anticipation of Upcoming Trial

The revelation of Swift and Lively’s candid and critical remarks about Baldoni has divided public opinion, with some expressing disappointment over the tone of the messages and others scrutinizing the dynamics of power and influence in Hollywood.

As the trial approaches, Swift’s potential testimony could play a significant role in shaping the case’s outcome. The lawsuit, focusing on serious allegations of harassment alongside counterclaims of defamation, highlights ongoing challenges in addressing misconduct within the entertainment industry.

The May 18 trial is expected to bring further clarity as legal representatives for both sides prepare to present evidence, witness accounts, and arguments before the court, with the involvement of high-profile celebrities ensuring media and public scrutiny will remain intense.
