Taylor Swift Joins Blake Lively’s Explosive Legal Battle Drama

Actress Blake Lively has become the center of an intense legal battle involving director Justin Baldoni, with newly unsealed court documents revealing the significant role her close friend Taylor Swift has played in providing support during this conflict. The exchanges shed light on the ongoing Blake Lively legal battle, which began amid allegations made during and after the 2024 filming of It Ends with Us.

The Manhattan U.S. District Court unsealed documents on Tuesday expose private conversations between Lively and Swift where Lively shared her difficult experiences on set with Baldoni, whom she accuses of sexual harassment and orchestrating a campaign to ruin her reputation. These revelations add depth to the understanding of the tightly woven support system Lively leaned upon amid the escalating dispute.

Private Messages Reveal Taylor Swift’s Support Amid Rising Tensions

Among the documents are text exchanges between Lively and Swift that highlight the depth of their friendship and Swift’s awareness of the distressing incidents involving Baldoni. In one exchange, Lively referred to Baldoni as her “doofus director.” The following year, as public scrutiny intensified with a New York Times article exposing the allegations, Swift expressed skepticism of Baldoni’s claims related to his past trauma.

According to messages, Swift texted Lively,

“I think this bitch knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin,”

accompanied by a screenshot of an Instagram post where Baldoni spoke about being “sexually traumatized.” Swift also compared the whole situation to

“a horror film no one knows is taking place.”

CNN reached out to Swift’s representatives for comment, but no response has been reported.

Legal Teams Clash Over Allegations and Evidence

Blake Lively’s legal team, represented by attorney Sigrid McCawley, emphasized the seriousness of the issues revealed through these documents. McCawley stated,

“The newly unsealed evidence shows the concerns of Ms. Lively and others were documented in real-time as early as Spring 2023, and Wayfarer understood them as ‘sexual harassment’ concerns.”

She added,

“The evidence also documents how Wayfarer refused to investigate, but instead attempted to ‘bury’ Ms. Lively and others who spoke up through retaliation.”

By contrast, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman dismissed these claims, asserting,

“The evidence does not support the claims as a matter of law. A simple read of the newly released message exchanges make the truth abundantly clear. We remain confident in the legal process and clearing the names of all of the Justin Baldoni parties.”

Escalation of Lawsuits Highlights the Battle’s Intensity

The dispute escalated after a New York Times investigation titled

“We Can Bury Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine”

brought the accusations into the public eye. In retaliation, Baldoni filed a lawsuit against the newspaper, charging that the coverage contained “inaccuracies, misrepresentations, and omissions” and leaned heavily on what he called Lively’s “self-serving narrative.”

Lively itself had initially filed a formal complaint with the Civil Rights Department in December 2024, accusing Baldoni and his company, Wayfarer Studios, of sexual harassment and retaliation. Following this, she filed a civil suit against him. Meanwhile, Baldoni countered with a $400 million defamation lawsuit targeting Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, alleging they sought to hijack his film production and ruin his career.

In June 2025, a judge dismissed the lawsuits Baldoni filed against Reynolds, Lively, and the New York Times. Subsequently, in August 2025, the New York Times initiated legal action against Wayfarer Studios to recover legal expenses. Meanwhile, Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni saw its trial date postponed from March 9 to May 18, 2026.

Taylor Swift’s Unexpected Legal Involvement

Taylor Swift’s involvement became publicly known in May 2025 when she was subpoenaed after her name appeared in text exchanges disclosed during the proceedings. Baldoni had sought to depose Swift and requested extensions to schedule her testimony, but a judge denied this in September 2025, limiting her direct legal participation.

Swift and Lively’s close friendship surfaced repeatedly in the court documents, including references to Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet” — from her album Folklore — being featured in the trailer for It Ends with Us. Lively also directed the music video for Swift’s

“I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault).”

The actress and her husband Ryan Reynolds often socialized with Swift and her fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce, attending several Kansas City Chiefs games together.

In late 2024, Reynolds confirmed that Swift is the godmother to their three daughters — James, Inez, and Betty — in addition to their son, Olin, born in 2023.

Other Cast Members Voice Similar Concerns About Baldoni

The newly unsealed documents also disclose complaints from other cast members on It Ends with Us. Actress Jenny Slate reportedly sent messages accusing the shoot of being “really gross and disturbing,” reflecting a broader atmosphere of discomfort felt by multiple individuals during production.

Representatives for Slate have not yet responded to requests for comment.

What This Legal Battle Means for Hollywood and Those Involved

This ongoing Blake Lively legal battle draws attention to pressing conversations about sexual harassment and accountability within the film industry. The emerging details, involving high-profile figures like Taylor Swift, underscore the intersection of personal relationships with public legal disputes, intensifying the scrutiny faced by all parties.

As the case moves toward its postponed trial date in May 2026, continued revelations could influence not only the reputations of those involved but also how production companies handle harassment allegations in the future. For Swift, Lively, and Baldoni, the outcome remains uncertain as the legal process unfolds amid a climate of heightened awareness and public interest.
