Nicolas Cage’s Marvel film Ghost Rider is currently streaming on the free, ad-supported platform Tubi but will be removed at the end of January 2026. Released in 2007, the movie features Cage as Johnny Blaze, a stuntman who becomes the supernatural Ghost Rider after making a pact with the demon Mephisto.
Alongside the original, the sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, will also depart from Tubi by the same deadline. This removal is part of Tubi’s monthly rotation, where new titles arrive as others leave the service.
Other Popular Movies Also Leaving the Streaming Service
Tubi is also removing several well-known films soon, including Tomb Raider, 22 Jump Street, Men in Black, Jumanji, War of the Worlds, Pulp Fiction, You’ve Got Mail, Godzilla, Minority Report, Zoolander, Ghost, Beverly Hills Cop, Galaxy Quest, The Cable Guy, Ali, Basic Instinct, Apollo 11, Step Brothers, The Equalizer, The Fifth Element, Training Day, Selena, and The Cabin in the Woods.
Ghost Rider’s Mixed Reception and Box Office Success
When Ghost Rider premiered in theaters in February 2007, it received poor reviews from critics, holding a 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite this, the film opened at number one at the box office and ended with a total gross of $228 million worldwide.
The movie’s cast includes Nicolas Cage, Sam Elliott, Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley, Peter Fonda, and Donal Logue. It was directed by Mark Steven Johnson and produced by Avi Arad, Steven Paul, Michael De Luca, and Gary Foster.

The Sequel and Its Reception
The success of the original led Sony to approve a sequel titled Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which saw Cage return as Johnny Blaze. The cast also featured Fergus Riordan, Ciarán Hinds, Violante Placido, Idris Elba, Christopher Lambert, and Johnny Whitworth in supporting roles.
Released in 2012, the sequel underperformed compared to the first film, generating $132 million globally and receiving an 18% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Nicolas Cage’s Career Before and After Ghost Rider
Before leading Ghost Rider, Cage appeared in several notable films such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Moonstruck, The Rock, Face/Off, Adaptation, National Treasure, and World Trade Center. His performance in 1995’s Leaving Las Vegas earned him an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award.
Following the loss of Ghost Rider’s film rights to Marvel Studios, preventing a third installment, Cage continued his career with movies like The Croods, Dog Eat Dog, Snowden, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In 2026, Cage is set to portray Ben Reilly in the live-action Spider-Noir series, airing on MGM+ and Prime Video.
The Lasting Impact of Ghost Rider and Its Legacy
Although more than 15 years old, Ghost Rider remains accessible to new viewers through streaming platforms such as Tubi, keeping the film relevant. The character’s presence continues in the Marvel universe, notably with Gabriel Luna’s portrayal of Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Fans have until the end of January to watch both Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance on Tubi before these titles are removed, marking a limited window to revisit Cage’s iconic Marvel role.
