Jason Momoa Can’t Stop Watching His New Hawaii Movie

KAPOLEIHonolulu-born actor Jason Momoa expressed his excitement over his newest film, The Wrecking Crew, which was shot across the Hawaiian islands. Momoa, 46, shared his thoughts during a press tour in London, where he attended the movie’s premiere with co-star Dave Bautista and his girlfriend, Adria Arjona.

Describing the film as one of the most enjoyable projects of his career, Momoa revealed he has watched it multiple times despite usually avoiding premieres. He also mentioned planning a special screening for his children, who are disappointed it is not available in theaters.

Local Cast Members Celebrate at Hawaii Premiere

The movie’s exclusive Hawaii premiere took place Monday night at Olino by Consolidated Theatres in Kapolei, attracting many local actors who appeared in the film. These included stand-ins and extras portraying a range of characters, from businesspeople to homeless individuals, some sharing scenes with Momoa himself.

One of the local actors shared their experience playing both a stand-in and a homeless character in the movie. Another cast member, portraying a homeless person, admitted feeling nervous during her close-up with Momoa on set.

Plot Centers on Brothers Reuniting to Uncover a Murder

The Wrecking Crew tells the story of two estranged brothers who join forces to investigate the suspicious killing of their father. Set against Hawaii’s scenic backdrop, the action-comedy highlights various local sites. While Momoa could not attend the Kapolei screening, co-star Maia Kealoha, known for her work in Lilo and Stitch, was also absent. The film becomes available for streaming on Prime Video starting Wednesday.

It’s definitely up there as one of the funnest films I’ve ever made in my life. And I had the time of my life, and I think I don’t watch the premieres over and over. I’ve seen this movie five times now, and I’m still laughing,

Momoa said.

I’m excited to watch it tonight. I’m going to watch it again, and I’m actually having a little private viewing for my kids because they’re very mad that it’s not playing in theaters,

he said.

I was a stand-in for the movie as well as the houseless role,

said one of the local cast members attending the premiere.

In my scene, I was this close to Jason Momoa,

said another cast member.
