Jason Statham Reveals True Feelings on Shelter Premiere Nerves

Jason Statham, the renowned Hollywood action star, recently spoke about experiencing nerves ahead of his latest film, Shelter, which premiered on January 30. The movie, directed by Ric Roman Waugh, stars Statham as a former assassin living in exile who protects a young girl from a deadly storm while confronting threats from his past. During the film’s premiere, the 58-year-old actor was asked whether he ever feels nervous before such events.

The Nature of Statham’s Premiere Nerves Explained

After briefly considering the question, Statham responded,

“Not really. Nothing to be nervous of anymore. We sort of have done it a few too many years.”

He elaborated on his feelings in an interview with BBC, emphasizing that what he experiences are not overwhelming nerves but rather a positive anticipation.

“I mean I think there’s good nerves. But I don’t get nerves that sort of consume I think you get nerves that are your desire to do something good. I think that’s what it is.”

He also noted that the drive to succeed and deliver the physical performance expected of his roles plays a large part in this sensation.

“It’s about you wanna get things right and correct and you wanna excel at some of the physical sort of martial arts.”

Adrenaline Fuels His Focus Rather Than Anxiety

Statham clarified that the heightened feeling he experiences before performing is more about adrenaline than genuine nervousness.

“I think, you know, your adrenaline is a little bit high. But I wouldn’t say it’s really nervous, but I think your adrenaline’s is in a position to try and do good work.”

This distinction shows how his years in the industry have shaped his approach to managing the pressures of premieres and performances.

Shelter also features a diverse cast including Bill Nighy, Naomi Ackie, Tom Wu, Daniel Mays, and Anna Crilly. With the film released in theatres, audiences have the opportunity to witness Statham’s intense performance amid a compelling story of survival and redemption. The actor’s honesty regarding his mixed emotions at the premiere sheds light on the complexities behind the confident action star persona often seen on screen.
