Timothée Chalamet’s Oscar Contender ‘Marty Supreme’ Coming to China

A24’s Oscar-nominated film Marty Supreme, featuring four-time Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet, is set for a theatrical release in China through China Film Group, with promotional efforts supported by Wanda Film. This marks a significant step in the movie’s global distribution, bringing Chalamet’s praised performance to Chinese audiences.

The Film’s Awards Success and Industry Praise

Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme has garnered nine Oscar nominations, including in major categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Chalamet. The sports drama has received strong acclaim from both critics and viewers, establishing itself as a serious contender during this awards season.

Commercial Impact and Global Reach

Marty Supreme has also proven to be commercially successful, standing as A24’s highest-grossing release within the United States. The film is positioned to become the studio’s biggest international success so far, expanding its reach significantly with the upcoming China premiere.

Timothée Chalamet’s Ongoing Connection with Chinese Audiences

Chalamet not only stars in the film but also took on a producing role alongside Josh Safdie, Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas. He has built a strong rapport with Chinese moviegoers, notably through previous titles. His most lucrative previous release in China was Dune: Part Two, which earned $49 million there when launched by Wanda Film earlier this year in March 2024.

Producing ‘Marty Supreme’ has been a deeply meaningful experience for me, and I’m genuinely thrilled to be working with Wanda Film to bring the film to audiences in China,

Chalamet said in a statement.

I can’t wait for Chinese audiences to experience ‘Marty Supreme’ and to be part of its continued journey around the world.
