Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up for summer with the launch of a new 30-second commercial promoting its upcoming roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. The advertisement, featuring Vin Diesel, the franchise star and producer, will air during NBCUniversal’s coverage of Super Bowl LX, the Winter Olympics, and the NBA All-Star game on NBC and Peacock. The campaign marks the beginning of a wider rollout for the ride, set to open this summer.
Inside the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Experience
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is the park’s first outdoor, high-speed roller coaster and promises a unique thrill. The ride includes a “drift” mechanism where cars spin dynamically as they race along the track at speeds up to 72 miles per hour. The coaster features four vehicles, each with four seats, including a replica of Dominic Toretto’s iconic Dodge Charger, known from the Fast & Furious films.
The track stretches 4,100 feet—nearly the length of 12 football fields—and incorporates sound reduction technology to enhance the immersive experience. Each ride vehicle rotates 360 degrees, creating a sensation of car drifting at intense speeds, positioning it as the fastest coaster within Universal Destinations & Experiences. Plans are also underway to bring a similar attraction to Universal Orlando Resort.
Vin Diesel’s Role and Franchise Developments
Vin Diesel, who has been a longtime collaborator with the parks, opens the ad with his distinctive deep voice saying, “You ready?” His involvement underscores the close connection between the film franchise and the theme park attraction. Recently, Diesel also announced that the next installment in the Fast & Furious series, titled Fast Forever, is scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.
Anticipation Builds for the Ride and Future Franchise Projects
The introduction of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is a major step for Universal Studios Hollywood, as it expands the franchise’s reach beyond movies into immersive theme park experiences. The ride’s innovative features and high speeds are expected to attract both fans of the films and thrill-seekers alike. As the summer opening approaches and additional details emerge, excitement continues to grow for what promises to be one of the most dynamic attractions in the park’s lineup.
