Kumail Nanjiani Joins Camelback Board with Rohan Shah as President

Camelback Productions, an independent film production and investment company founded by Anita Verma-Lallian, has announced significant additions to its leadership team. Rohan Shah has been appointed President of the company’s Board, while actor, comedian, and filmmaker Kumail Nanjiani and technology executive Lata Krishnan have joined as board members. This development highlights the company’s focus on creating strong leadership rooted in diverse expertise.

With this new board composition, Camelback stands as one of the first theatrical film production companies in Hollywood to feature an all-South Asian executive board, aiming to bridge the industries of Silicon Valley and Hollywood.

Innovative Approach to Film Financing and Industry Transformation

Anita Verma-Lallian emphasized the importance of decision-making power within the company, stating,

This isn’t about representation on screen, it’s about who sits at the table where decisions are made. We’re bringing a new model of film financing that draws on expertise from industries that have historically operated far outside Hollywood’s traditional structures.

Her approach reflects Camelback’s commitment to reshaping film financing by integrating knowledge from sectors beyond conventional entertainment circles.

Rohan Shah, also the Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer of Extend, a tech-focused insurance and payments platform, explained the evolving nature of the entertainment business:

Tech founders have spent the last decades rethinking how consumers discover, pay for, and experience products. Entertainment is undergoing that same transformation, and the investors who understand platform economics and direct-to-consumer relationships are uniquely positioned to identify where this industry is headed before the traditional players do.

Shah’s insight points to a strategic vision that incorporates direct consumer engagement and innovative platform models within the media landscape.
