On March 7, Ryan Gosling will return as host of Saturday Night Live, while the animated band Gorillaz will make their debut musical performance on the show, NBC announced on February 12. This episode marks Gorillaz’s first appearance on SNL since their formation in 1998, coinciding with the upcoming release of their ninth studio album, The Mountain, scheduled for February 27.
Gorillaz’s First Appearance on Saturday Night Live
Gorillaz, led by Damon Albarn, have never performed on Saturday Night Live before despite their long-standing presence in the music world. The band has already shared five tracks from The Mountain, including the double release of The Hardest Thing and Orange County on January 15. Their March 7 performance on SNL will showcase songs from this new album.
Ryan Gosling’s Return as SNL Host
Ryan Gosling is returning to Saturday Night Live for the fourth time as host, following his appearances in 2015, 2017, and earlier in 2024. Gosling’s upcoming episode will also promote his new science fiction film Project Hail Mary, which is set to be released in theaters on March 20. In 2023, Gosling made an appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song I’m Just Ken from the Barbie soundtrack, reaching number 87.
Upcoming Episodes and Additional Guests
NBC also announced a March 14 episode of Saturday Night Live, though hosts and musical guests for that date have not yet been revealed. Meanwhile, the episode on February 28 will feature first-time host Connor Storrie from HBO’s Heated Rivalry alongside British band Mumford & Sons. Mumford & Sons are returning for their fourth musical performance on the show, with previous appearances in 2012, 2015, and 2018. Their latest album Prizefighter was released on February 20.
