T.J. Miller Teases Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 4 and MCU Return

T.J. Miller, known for his roles in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, faced serious allegations in late 2017 when a woman, claiming to have attended college with him, accused him of sexual assault. Miller denied these claims, and no legal charges were filed. However, the accusations negatively impacted his career trajectory and public image.

Although Miller’s acting work slowed down considerably after the controversy, he has gradually begun returning to the public eye. He landed a voice role on Netflix’s animated series F Is for Family and is currently engaged in a U.S. tour for his stand-up show titled Crowd Sorcerer Tour.

Previous Conflict Between Miller and Ryan Reynolds on Deadpool Sets

Miller did not reprise his role as Weasel in later Deadpool productions, including the Deadpool & Wolverine crossover. In 2022, Miller publicly accused Ryan Reynolds of bullying behavior during filming. Describing his experience, Miller said,

“As the character, he was, like, horrifically mean to me. But to me. As if I’m Weasel,”

illustrating the tension on set.

He further recalled Reynolds’ pointed comments about his role:

“He was like, ‘You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.’”

Miller expressed confusion over the apparent hostility, adding,

“it’s weird that he hates me,”

and described Reynolds as an insecure dude.” He suggested Reynolds’ attitude shifted after gaining fame from the first Deadpool movie, stating,

“I think after he got super, super famous from the first Deadpool, then things kinda changed. I think he was like, ‘See? You guys see?’”

Reconciliation and Possibility of Returning to the Deadpool Franchise

Despite the earlier conflict, Miller later characterized the incident as a misunderstanding and confirmed they had patched things up. Recent comments suggest Miller might still have a future as Weasel in upcoming MCU Deadpool projects led by Reynolds.

When asked by 101 WRIF Detroit about the likelihood of his return, Miller responded cautiously:

“It has not sailed. And that’s all I’m going to say about that,”

while acknowledging Marvel’s tendency to keep plans under tight wraps:

“Okay. Marvel gets so weird about this stuff. They’re just like, don’t talk about it, don’t talk about it.”

Miller revealed he has been told about Reynolds’ concept for the next Deadpool film and praised its originality:

“And I will also say that his idea for the next Deadpool film is, like, really good. You know, it’s just, it is really smart. He told me the idea. I kind of got hair on the back of my neck standing up because I was just like, I didn’t think you could do something that’s even more different than Deadpool and Wolverine.”

He expressed admiration for Reynolds’ comedic talents and their renewed friendship, saying,

“And I think he has, I think, you know, it’s in the chamber, and I don’t know when that’s necessarily going to happen because he’s got a couple other projects going, but I’ve really come to, I mean, I always liked him and thought, I’ve always thought he’s the funniest.”

Miller also commented on Reynolds’ support against online negativity:

“Ryan is really a powerhouse in terms of the comedy and specifically Deadpool. He’s come to be a real friend, and he’s kind of had our back, and I’ve tried to have his cause it’s, I mean, the internet is just such an evil, cruel place,”

continuing,

“You know, it’s just, it doesn’t make, it’s so, so despicable. It would be a lot of fun to just joke around with him again. Just because I think he’s so, so funny.”

Potential Reunion in the MCU Despite Past Reservations

Despite previously stating,

“I think it’s weird to just go back and play Weasel 10 years later,”

Miller’s latest statements suggest that he may reunite with Reynolds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next chapter for Deadpool. This shift signals a reopening of doors for the actor after years of uncertainty about his relationship with the franchise and its star.
