Weinstein Claims Gwyneth Paltrow ‘Stabbed’ Him Over Allegations

Harvey Weinstein, the former film producer known for founding Miramax and The Weinstein Company, has publicly accused actress Gwyneth Paltrow of betraying him following her sexual harassment allegations. In his first interview since being released from prison, Weinstein expressed deep resentment toward Paltrow, denying any wrongdoing and claiming that the accusations against him, including those involving Paltrow, were exaggerated.

Details from Weinstein’s First Post-Prison Interview

Weinstein’s 2017 downfall began when over 80 women in Hollywood accused him of sexual assault and rape. A New York jury later found him guilty on two counts of criminal sexual assault but acquitted him on three other charges, including predatory sexual assault. After serving time at Rikers Island, Weinstein has largely remained silent, but in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Maer Roshan, he opened up while confined to his jail cell for 23 hours a day due to safety and health concerns. Among his various medical issues are diabetes, a heart operation, cancer, and spinal stenosis, which has left him wheelchair-bound.

Weinstein’s Accusations Against Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow was one of the first actresses to publicly accuse Weinstein of harassment in a 2017 New York Times article. At that time, her then-fiancé Brad Pitt confronted Weinstein over the allegations. Weinstein described his reaction to Paltrow’s accusations with bitterness, saying she “stabbed him in the back.”

“Because she was a good friend of mine. I don’t know what drove her to do what she did. To make such a big deal over nothing. I walked out of a nice meeting with her and said, ‘How about a massage?’ And she just went, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ I got the message. I never put my hands on her. She told Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt came to me and said, ‘Don’t do anything like that with my girl.’ I said, ‘Don’t worry, Brad. I got it.’ But then Gwyneth goes on Howard Stern and The New York Times and makes a big deal about it all. She knows that nothing happened. But this person who was a friend, who owes her career to me, just stabs me in the back. She wanted to be part of the crowd. I won’t forgive her for that,”

Weinstein shared.

He further accused other actresses of inflating their claims, grouping Paltrow with Rosanna Arquette and Angelina Jolie, stating:

“I’m just going to say Rosanna Arquette, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie — they just exaggerated. They wanted to be part of the club. And they destroyed me.”

Paltrow has not issued any response to these statements as of now.

Weinstein’s Declining Health and Hospitalization

Following this intense interview, reports emerged that Weinstein was rushed from Rikers Island to a hospital for emergency surgery. While details remain limited, his various health challenges have drawn significant attention amid his ongoing legal and personal struggles. His confinement and physical condition underscore the harsh consequences of his criminal convictions.

Implications of Weinstein’s Comments on Public Perception

Weinstein’s open resentment toward Gwyneth Paltrow, combined with his denial of misconduct, highlights the continuing tensions surrounding the #MeToo movement and Hollywood’s reckoning with sexual abuse. His accusations that Paltrow and others exaggerated their claims may influence ongoing discussions about power, accountability, and the consequences of speaking out. As the fallout from these revelations persists, the entertainment industry and the public continue to grapple with the lasting impact of these allegations and the individuals involved.
