Mariska Magdolna Hargitay (born January 23, 1964) is an American actress, philanthropist, producer, and director. She has portrayed Olivia Benson on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since 1999, a role that became the longest-running character in an American primetime drama and earned her major awards and broad recognition.

Mariska Magdolna Hargitay was born in Santa Monica, California, to actress Jayne Mansfield and Brazilian entertainer Nelson Sardelli.
