Caleb Boushley Bio
Caleb J. Boushley (born October 1, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is currently signed with the KT Wiz of the KBO League. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, and Texas Rangers, and has spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays organization. A right-handed pitcher who worked his way up through the minor leagues, Boushley made his MLB debut in 2023 after years of development in the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers farm systems.
Standing out for his durability and strikeout ability in the upper minor leagues, Boushley has built a professional career that has carried him from small-town Wisconsin to the highest level of American baseball and now into the KBO League in South Korea.
Early Life and Background
Caleb J. Boushley grew up in Wisconsin and attended Hortonville High School in Hortonville, where he developed as a baseball player. The Hortonville area has produced a steady stream of athletes, and Boushley emerged from that environment as a promising young pitcher with a strong work ethic. He continued his playing career locally, staying in the state for his college years.
After completing high school, Boushley enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He played college baseball for the Wisconsin–La Crosse Eagles, competing at the NCAA Division III level. His time with the Eagles helped him mature physically and sharpen his pitching approach, setting the stage for a professional opportunity once his college career concluded.
Path to Professional Baseball
Boushley entered professional baseball when the San Diego Padres selected him in the 33rd round, with the 978th overall pick, of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. As a late-round selection, he was viewed as a developmental arm, and he began his pro career that same season with the rookie-level Arizona League Padres and the High-A Lake Elsinore Storm. The move to full-season ball came quickly, as he split 2018 between Lake Elsinore and the Single-A Fort Wayne TinCaps while also making a brief relief appearance with the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas.
In 2019, Boushley spent the entire season with Lake Elsinore, where he was selected to play in the 2019 California League All-Star Game. He did not appear in a game in 2020 because the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Returning in 2021, he opened the year with the Double-A San Antonio Missions and was promoted to Triple-A El Paso in late June, demonstrating the steady climb that would eventually lead to a major league opportunity.
Caleb Boushley Career
Early Career (2017–2021)
Boushley’s early professional years were spent in the San Diego Padres organization, where he moved methodically through the minor league ladder. After his initial assignments to the Arizona League Padres and Lake Elsinore in 2017, he progressed to Fort Wayne in 2018 and returned to Lake Elsinore for a full 2019 campaign that included an All-Star Game selection. The lost 2020 season interrupted his momentum, but he came back strong in 2021 by earning a midseason promotion from Double-A San Antonio to Triple-A El Paso.
His performance across those developmental seasons, particularly at the upper levels, caught the attention of other clubs. The Milwaukee Brewers selected Boushley in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft on December 8, 2021, beginning a new chapter in his career and putting him on a direct path toward a major league opportunity.
Milwaukee Brewers Breakthrough (2022–2023)
Boushley spent the 2022 season with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, where he served as a reliable starting pitcher. He made 25 starts and produced a 12–2 record with a 3.25 ERA, striking out 91 batters across 127+1⁄3 innings pitched. The standout season established him as one of the top arms in the Brewers’ system and positioned him for a potential call-up.
He returned to Nashville in 2023 and made 29 appearances, including 26 starts, logging a 9–8 record and a 5.11 ERA with a career-high 110 strikeouts across 135+2⁄3 innings. The Brewers selected his contract on September 29, 2023, and he made his major league debut that night against the Chicago Cubs. Boushley struck out five batters while allowing one hit and one earned run in 2+1⁄3 innings to earn the win, a memorable first appearance. After the season, the Brewers removed him from the 40-man roster and outrighted him to Triple-A Nashville, and he elected free agency on November 6, 2023.

He made one appearance for Minnesota, allowing two runs in two innings of relief against the Washington Nationals, before being designated for assignment on July 14.

The Rays designated him for assignment on November 3, and after clearing waivers, he elected free agency on November 6.
KT Wiz Era (2025–Present)
On November 26, 2025, Boushley signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the KT Wiz of the KBO League, beginning his career in South Korean professional baseball.
